Speaker Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an followed by its Urdu translation by Qari Abdul Ghafoor. Abid Rauf Qadri presented Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).
Questions Hour: −
Questions relating to Auqaf Department were asked and Parliamentary Secretary for Auqaf, Mr. Iftikhar Ahmed Khan answered the questions.
Privilege Motions:-
Four Privilege motions were taken up. The motion moved by Rai Farooq Umer Khan Kharral regarding misbehavior of EDO Health Okara, Dr. Rahmat and the motion moved by Ms. Sakina Shaheen Khan regarding misbehavior of TOR, Ravi Town, Mr. Musharaf, were pended. The motion moved by Mr. Shafiq Ahmad Gujjar regarding misconduct of SP Madina Town, Rohail Akbar, was pended till Wednesday. The motion moved by Major (R) Abdul Rehman Rana regarding restricting Punjab Government to make any legislation regarding Lahore-Faisalabad Expressway, was pended for one week.
The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan.
Resolution:-
The House allowed Minister for Prisons, Ch. Abdul Ghafoor to move the following resolution, after suspending rule 115 under Rule 234 of the Rules of the Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997. The resolution was unanimously passed by the House.

"پنجاب اسمبلی کا یہ ایوان ڈیرہ غازی خان میں ماتمی جلوس کے دوران بم دھماکے کی پُرزور الفاظ میں شدید مذمت کرتا ہے۔ یہ ایوان سمجھتا ہے کہ یہ دھماکہ صوبہ پنجاب اور اسلام کے خلاف وطن عزیز کے دشمنوں کی سازش کا شاخسانہ ہے اور یہ ایوان اس دھماکہ کی آڑ میں مذہبی ہم آہنگی میں نفرت پیدا کرنے کی جو کوشش کی گئی ہے، اس کی شدید مذمت کرتا ہے۔
پنجاب اسمبلی کا یہ ایوان اس دھماکہ میں جاں بحق ہونے والے معصوم شہریوں کے اہل خانہ کے غم میں برابر کا شریک ہے اور خداتعالیٰ سے مرحومین کی بلندی درجات کیلئے دُعاگو ہے۔"
Members from Treasury and Opposition benches expressed their views and condemned the bomb blast in mourning procession in Dera Ghazi Khan reportedly killing 30 people and injuring 87 people and demanded a strong action against the law-enforcers found guilty of negligence in this connection. Mr. Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari said that the government is responsible for the blast as only three policemen had been deployed for the security of the mourning procession. Other members, Mr. Ijaz Ahmed Khan, Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Chohan, Dr. Amna Buttar, Syeda Bushra Nawaz Gardezi, Mr. Ali Haidar Noor Khan Niazi, Syed Nazim Hussain Shah, Tahir Ahmed Sindhu, Mr. Muhammad Sana Ullah Khan Masti Khel also expressed their views and shared the grief of the families of the victims and prayed that Almighty Allah may bless the departed souls and recover the injured.
Then, the House was adjourned till 3:00pm, Monday, 9th February, 2009.
