1.     THE ALI INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION LAHORE BILL 2008 (Bill No.12 of 2008)

 

                A MINISTER to move that the Ali Institute of Education Lahore Bill 2008, as recommended by Special Committee, be taken into consideration at once.

 

                A MINISTER to move that the Ali Institute of Education Lahore Bill 2008 be passed.

 

2.     THE PUNJAB MAINTENANCE OF PUBLIC ORDER (AMENDMENT) BILL 2008 (Bill No.13 of 2008)

 

                A MINISTER to move that the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order (Amendment) Bill 2008, as recommended by Special Committee, be taken into consideration at once.

 

                A MINISTER to move that the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order (Amendment) Bill 2008 be passed.

 

3.   CONTINUATION OF PRE-BUDGET DISCUSSION INVITING PROPOSALS FROM THE MEMBERS FOR THE ANNUAL BUDGET 2009-10

SUMMARY OF THE PROCEEDINGS

Speaker Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an followed by its Urdu translation by Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali. Muhammad Afzal Noshai presented Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).

Questions Hour: −

Questions relating to The Health Department were asked and Minister for Food, Malik Nadeem Kamran, holding additional charge of Health, answered the questions.

Reports:-

1.       The House extended the date up to 15 March, 2009 for laying the reports of “The Provincial Assembly of the Punjab Privileges (Amendment) Bill 2008 (Bill no. 15 of 2008)” and Bill no. 17 of 2008, on request of Raja Hanif Abbasi Advocate.

2.       The House extended the date up to 15 March,2009 for laying the report of “The Punjab examination commission Bill 2008 (Bill no. 11 of 2008”, on request of Ch. Javed Ahmad.

Privilege Motions:-

Four privilege motions were taken up. The motion moved by Mr. Shafiq Ahmad Gujjar regarding misconduct of SP Madina Town, Rohail Akbar, was referred to the Privilege Committee. The motion moved by Major (R) Abdul Rehman Rana regarding restricting the government from making legislation on Lahore-Faisalabad Expressway, was pended till Wednesday. The motion moved by Mrs. Samina Khawar Hayat regarding allegation on The PML leadership by Minister for Prisons, Ch. Abdul Ghafoor, was pended till Monday. The motion moved by Sheikh Ala ud Din regarding newspaper report about him, which was reprimanded by Mr. Speaker was pended till next Wednesday.  

The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan.

Adjournment Motions:-

Two Adjournment Motions were taken up. The motion moved by Sheikh Ala ud Din regarding Mian Nisar, property dealer, who is looting innocent people by selling them already sold plots, was disposed of. The other motion was moved by Mian Muhammad Naveed Anjum regarding selling of property of Raja Sahib by Qabza groups, was pended till next Wednesday.  

The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan.

Government Business:-

Continuation of pre-budget discussion inviting proposals from the members for the annual budget 2009-10

Members from Treasury and Opposition benches including Mr. Muhammad Sana Ullah Khan Masti Khel, Mian Muhammad Rafique, Mr. Joel Amir Sahutra, Mrs. Amna Ulfat, Mr. Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari, Rai Muhammad Shah Jahan Khan, Ms. Rifat Sultana Dar, Mr. Sher Ali Khan, Mr. Ahmed Khan Balouch, Ms. Tayyaba Zameer, Dr.   Samia Amjad, Dr. Amna Buttar, Mrs. Ayehsa Javed, Major (R) Abdul Rehman Rana, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf Khan Leghari, Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad, Dr. Musarrat Hassan, Syed Abrar Hussain Shah, Mrs. Deeba Mirza, Muhammad Hafeez Akhtar Chaudhry, Ms. Nargis Parveen Awan, Rana Tanveer Ahmad Nasirm, Rao Kashif Rahim Khan, and Syed Hassan Murtaza expressed their views and gave suggestions for formulating the annual budget for fiscal year, 2009-10. They demanded of the government to prioritize the social sectors particularly health, education and provision of clean water by cutting down the non-development budgets. They stressed upon the government to reduce corruption in the development schemes through an effective monitoring system.        

Then, the House was adjourned till 10:00am, Thursday, 12th February, 2009.
