Speaker Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an followed by its Urdu translation by Qari Abdul Ghafoor Shakir. Abid Roufi Qadri presented Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).

 

Questions Hour: −

Questions relating to Services and General Administration Department(S&GAD) were asked and Minister for law and Parliamentary affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan answered the questions.

 

Adjournment Motions:-

Four Adjournment motions were taken up. Two motions were moved by Mrs. Nasim Lodhi, one regarding a newspaper report about non-storage of polio vaccine in proper way and other regarding a newspaper report about blackmailing of transporters and lack of interest by district government in delivering petroleum commodities to the people of Gujranwala, were disposed of. The motion moved by Mr. Sher Ali Khan regarding firing 923 people from their employment who were Grade 4 employees of Punjab Highway, was pended till Tuesday. The motion moved by Ms. Rifat Sultana Dar regarding occupation of boy’s hostel of Government Training College for the Teachers of blind by teacher Safia Sultana, was pended till Tuesday.

The motions were answered by Minister for law and Parliamentary affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan.

  

GENERAL DISCUSSION ON LAW AND ORDER IN THE PROVINCE.

General discussion on law and order was started. While opening the discussion, Minister for law and Parliamentary affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan said that terrorists had infiltrated into the Punjab through borders areas with Balochistan and South Waziristan Agency. He further said that the Elite Force and well equipped Police personnel will be deputed on the border after giving them special training. Mr. Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari said that Border Military Police should be revamped on modern lines and all vacancies must be filled. Major (R) Abdul Rehman Rana, Mr. Muhammad Sana Ullah Khan Masti Khel, Mr. Ahmed Hussain Deharr, Mr. Ahmed Khan Balouch also expressed their views and gave suggestions for improving law and order.  

 

Then, the House was adjourned till 3:00pm, Monday, 16th February, 2009.
