Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation by Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (P.B.U.H.) Qari Abid Rauf.

Privilege Motion

Four privilege motions were taken up. The motion moved by Syed Hassan Murtaza regarding misbehavior of DDOR, Chiniot was referred to the Privilege Committee, motion moved by Major (R) Abdul Rehman Rana regarding unsatisfactory answer given by the department, motion moved by Ms. Sakina Shaheen Khan regarding misbehavior of Shabir Ahmad, S.H.O, Thana Vani kay Tarar, District Hafizabad were kept pending, motion moved by Dr. Samia Amjad regarding not presenting the report of Punjab Public Service Commission for the year 2008 before the House was disposed of.                

 

The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan.     

 

Adjournment Motions:-

­­Two Adjournment Motions were taken up. Both Motions were moved by Sheikh Ala ud Din regarding juvenile jail reforms was referred to the Prison Committee to submit its report in one month and other motion regarding Medical Legal Cases (MLC) was admitted for general discussion on 30-6-2009

 

The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan.     

Government Business

Discussion and Voting on Demands for Grants for the Year 2009-10:-

The Finance Minister, Mr. Tanvir Ashraf Kaira moved the demand for grants for Police and Education. The Opposition members opposed it and moved the cut motions. Members from the Opposition benches, Leader of the Opposition, Ch. Zahir-ud-Din, Mr. Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari, Mrs. Amna Ulfat, Syeda Bushra Nawaz Gardezi, Mrs. Ayehsa Javed, and Mrs. Khadija Umar delivered their speeches on the cut motion. However, the House disposed of the cut motion for Police and rejected the cut motion and approved the grant.  

LAYING OF COMMITTEE REPORTS:

The following reports were presented before the House.

1.     Ch. Ali Asghar Manda laid the report of “The Punjab Irrigation & Drainage Authority (Amendment) Bill 2008(Bill No.16 of 2008) moved by Mr Muhammad Mohsin Khan Laghari, MPA (PP-245)” which was referred to Standing Committee on Irrigation  and Power for submitting its report by 31st August, 2009.

 

2.     Dr. Asad Ashraf laid the reports of “The University of Health Sciences, Lahore (Amendment) Bill 2009(Bill No.10 of 2009)” Question No. 194 moved by Ms Arifa Khalid Pervez, MPA (W-305) and Adjournment Motion No.1038 of 2008 moved by Sheikh Ala-ud-din, MPA(PP-181) which were referred to Standing Committee on Health for submitting its report by 31st August, 2009.

 

3.     Mr. Mehdi Abbas Khan laid the report of “ The Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2008(Bill No.1 of 2008) moved by Ms Tayyaba Zameer, MPA (W-299)” which was referred to Standing Committee on Transport for submitting its report by 31st August, 2009.

 

4.     Raja Hanif Abbassi Advocate laid the report of “The Provincial Assembly of the Punjab Privileges (Amendment) Bill 2008(Bill No.15 of 2008) moved by Ch Aamar Sultan Cheema, MPA (PP-32) and The Provincial Assembly of the Punjab Privileges(Amendment) Bill 2008(Bill No.17 of 2008) moved by Mrs Amna Ulfat, MPA (W-356) and The Provincial Assembly of the Punjab Privileges (Amendment) (Bill No.6 of 2001) moved by Ch Asad Ullah Khan, MPA (PP-106)” which were referred to Standing Committee on Law and ParliamentaryAffairs for submitting its report by 31st August, 2009.

Then, the House was adjourned till 10.00 am, on Thursday, 25 June, 2009.
