Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation by Qari Abdul Ghaffar Shakir followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (P.B.U.H.) by Sarwar Hussain Naqshbandi.
Privilege Motion
Two Privilege motions were taken up. The motion moved by Mr. Ghulam Habib Awan regarding police raid at his home and taking his gunmen without any reason, and other motion moved by Peer Muhammad Ashraf Rasool regarding misbehavior of Asama Mumtaz Raja, DPO Sheikhupura were kept pending till tomorrow.
The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan.
Adjournment Motions:-
Six Adjournment Motions were taken up. The motion moved by Mr. Khalid Javed Asghar Ghural regarding newspaper report about torturing women by Muhammad Akram Wattoo, Sub-inspector , Thana Kanganpur, was disposed of, other motion moved by Mian Muhammad Naveed Anjum regarding making more sub divisions of L.D.A, WASA for Mughalpura and Bagbanpura as their population has increased more than 200/300 percent, motion moved by Mr. Tahir Iqbal Chaudhry regarding newspaper about assassination of Dr. Nazir Ahmad Mittu Dogar by Abdul Sattar Dogar and his colleagues were kept pending till Saturday, motion moved by Mr. Muhammad Naeem Akhtar Khan regarding newspaper report about strike of students of Mathematics Department of Islamia University, Bahawalpur, for their demands and torturing them by university administration, motion moved by Sheikh Ala-ud-Din regarding corruption of property tax staff and sending them to those departments where there is no direct public dealing, motion moved by Ch. Aamir Sultan Cheema regarding issuing of multiplication funds for up- gradation of three schools for District Sargodha from Finance Department were kept pending till Monday.

Government Business
Discussion and Voting on Demands for Grants for the Year 2009-10:-
The House unanimously approved 41 demands for grants for the fiscal year 2009-10.
The Opposition had moved 5 cut motions for reduction in Government’s demands for grants; however, the House rejected the cut motions for Health Services, State Trading in food Grains and Sugar, Agriculture, Loan to Municipalities/Autonomous Bodies, and Irrigation and Land Reclanation. The House approved the grants.
Minister for Finance, Mr Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, expressed his gratitude for the Treasury Benches and the Members of the Opposition who had taken part in the budget debate. He also announced one-month salary for the staff of the Punjab Assembly, Finance Department and for the police officials who are on duty for the security of Punjab Assembly.
Then, the House was adjourned till 9.00 am, on Friday, 26 June, 2009.
