Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation by Qari Abdul Ghaffar Shakir followed by Naat–e–Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH) by Akhtar Hussain Qurashi.


Condolence:-

The House offered fateha on the sad demise of Mian Mehmood-ul-Hassan Dar, Husband of Ms. Rifat Sultana Dar (W-340).

Adjournment Motions:-

Seventeen Adjournment motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Ali Noor Haider Naizi regarding newspaper report about failure of previous government’s program known as “Parha Likha Punjab” was pended till next session. Two motions were moved by Sheikh Ala ud Din regarding cancellation of allotments of plots at Texila Industrial Estate by Mrs Farah Razzaq, Resident Director Rawalpindi, was disposed of and his other motion regarding Govt’s discriminatory attitude towards PCS officers was pended for one week. Motion moved by Tahir Ahmed Sindhu regarding notification issued by Senior Member Board of Revenue Punjab to charge taxes on the transfer of immoveable property according to the market value was pended till Monday. The motion moved by Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad regarding the Director Finance and Planning who is posted since 1996 and has not been transferred from the district Faisalabad was pended till next week, the motion moved by Mr. Khalid Imtiaz Khan Baluch regarding corruption at TMA, Iqbal Town, Faisalabad and the motion moved by Mian Naseer Ahmed regarding negligence of contractor of Cantonment Board were disposed of, Motion moved by Sardar Khalid Saleem Bhatti regarding illegal possession on front land of Government Girls Middle School Azeemabad, Chak No. 441/EB, Tehsil Buraywala was pended for 13 days, three motions were moved by Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Chohan regarding only one DHQ hospital at Gujranwala for the population of 2 to 3 million people, regarding improper roads at  Gujranwala city and third motion regarding no specialist cadre doctor at Mandi Bahauddin, were pended for next week, two motions moved by Rana Babar Hussain regarding giving land of Forest Department on lease to one of the Middle East countries for establishing rice factory at Perowal, Khaniwal and the other motion regarding naming Mian Channu road going towards L-15 Canal Bypass to Mannuwal Textile Mills Bypass by the opponents at their father’s name were pended till next week, the motion moved by Ms. Zobia Rubab Malik regarding newspaper report about not regularizing contract employees of Irrigation and Agriculture departments was pended, the motion moved by Peer Walayat Shah Khagha regarding theft of six cows from Qadirabad Farm Sahiwal, was replied by  Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs that he will present the report within seven days.

The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan.  


Government Business

Discussion and Voting on Demands for Grants for the Year 2010-11:-

The House approved 43 demands for grants under different heads for the fiscal year 2010-11 in the absence of the Opposition, as the Opposition boycotted the proceedings.

In his winding up speech, Minister for Finance, expressed his gratitude for the Treasury Benches who had taken part in the budget debate. Tanvir Ashraf Kaira rebutted all the arguments and the figures provided by the Opposition. About the “Sasti Roti Scheme”, he informed the Assembly that the Cabinet had decided to continue the subsidy in it as the pro-poor scheme is in favour of the people. He also announced an end to the tax fixed on luxury vehicles to generate more revenue in the province.

Then, the House was adjourned till 10:00 am, Tuesday, 22nd June, 2010
