Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation by Qari Muhammad Ali followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH) by Mian Marghoob Ahmad Hamdani.

Question Hour: −

Questions relating to Law & Parliamentary Affairs & Population Welfare Departments were asked and Rana Sanaullah Khan, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, and Mrs. Neelam Jabbar Chaudhary Minister for Population, Welfare answered the questions respectively.

Adjournment Motions:-

Sixteen Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Ch. Aamir Sultan Cheema regarding allotment of government residence to the retired Chief Justice Lahore High Court Khawaja Muhammad Sharif in sheer violation of Law on the part of the Chief Minister Punjab was kept pending till next week on the request of Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs to get detailed reply from the quarters concerned. The Motion moved by Engineer Shahzad Elahi about disposing of old PP bags, used for storage of wheat at lowers rates by Food Department thus bringing loss to the government exchequer, two Motions moved by Mrs. Khadija Umar, regarding increase in fares intercity transport and non payment of salaries to the work charge employees of Buildings Department working at Allied Hospital and Punjab Medical College, the Motion moved by Mr. Tahir Iqbal Chaudhry regarding gang rape of a woman in Kasur, three Motions moved by Seemal Kamran, regarding illegal Sale of shops, houses and go-downs by TMA, Kasur, the Motion regarding corruption being done by EDO Education, Gujrat and the Motion regarding demolition of sixty shops in Faislabad with the connivance of Police and Revenue Department, three Motions moved by Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Kahloon regarding spread of diseases due to contaminated drinking water in Sargodha, the Motion regarding New Satellite Town, Sargodha becoming center of problems for the inhabitants due to negligence and carelessness of Sargodha Management worsening the condition of the area, and the Motion regarding sale of drugs in Sargodha city were kept pending till Thursday since the movers were not present.

Two Motions moved by Dr. Samia Amjad, regarding constant increase in the patients of Swine Flu in Lahore and the Motion regarding corruption in Ring Road Land acquisition,  the Motion moved by Syeda Majida Zaidi regarding conversion of graveyard land into residential and commercial plots in Pak Arab Housing Society by LDA Directors were kept pending till next Thursday. The Motion moved by Khawaja Muhammad Islam regarding vacant seats of Assistant Professor, Associate Professors, Professors, Cardiac Surgeons and Cardiac Physicians at Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology, Faisalabad, and the Motion moved by Ch. Zaheer-ud-Din regarding corruption, by Forest Department, North Zone Division in the Sale of wood (residential) worth billion of rupees without depositing its proceeds in the National Treasury were disposed of due to the movers were not present.

The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs.

 

Government Business:-

Continuation of General Discussion on Price Hike of Essential Commodities:-

In continuation of general discussion on price hike of essential commodities, members who participated in the discussion are; Al-Haaj Muhammad Ilyas Chinioti, Mrs. Samina Naveed, Mrs. Rana Rizvi, Rana Muhammad Arshad and Mian Muhammad Rafiq.

At this stage, the quorum was pointed out and the House was then adjourned till 3:00 pm on Monday, January 17, 2011.
