Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation by Qari Muhammad Abdul Ghaffar Shakir followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH) by Afzal Noshahi.
Question Hour: −
Questions relating to Schools Education Department were asked and Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Minister for Excise & Taxation (holding additional charge) answered the questions.
Call Attention Notices:-
Three Call Attention Notices were taken up. Two Notices of Rana Tanveer Ahmad Nasir, one regarding firing incident and killing of a passerby during a public meeting of PML-Q Leader Ch. Pervaiz Elahi in District Sheikhupura and Notices by him and by Mr Abdul Waheed Chaudhry regarding dacoit at Munir Ahmad, resident of Chak No. 282 G.B, Abdullahpur, Thana Safdrabad, District Sheikhupura and at Gulshan Market, Thana New Multan, District Multan respectively were disposed of.
The Notices were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs.
Adjournment Motions:-
Three Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Mian Tariq Mehmood regarding embezzlement of revenue amount with the connivance of TMA cattle market, Kharian was kept pending till Tuesday, the motion moved by Mrs. Nighat Nasir Sheikh regarding amendment in the law to give severe punishment to butchers who sell dead animal meat and the motion of Seemal Kamran regarding non regularization of teachers working at Jinnah Medical College were disposed of.
The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs.
Government Business:-
Pre-Budget General Discussion Seeking Proposals Of The Members For The Budget 2011-12:-
Minister for Finance, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira in his opening speech on pre-budget general discussion sought proposals from the members for the Budget 2011-12. He said that the Punjab Government has adopted the austerity policy in the best interest of the people. He stated that the government was succeeded in saving Rs.2.8 billion through transparent completion of the projects. In the next ADP, the government would be more focused on poverty, unemployment, health, education, law and order, water, technical education, industrial development, food, private sector and women development. Following members also participated in the discussion: Ch. Zaheer-ud-Din, Leader of Opposition, Makhdoom Syed Ahmad Mehmood, Major (R) Abdul Rehman Rana, Ms. Anjum Safdar, Mr. Sher Ali Khan, Rana Muhammad Arshad, and Mr. Pervez Rafique.
The House was then adjourned till 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 18, 2011.
