As a result of General elections held on 11 May 2013, sixteenth Provincial Assembly of the Punjab has come into existence and its first sitting was held on 1 June, 2013 to administer oath to the members elect.
Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, outgoing speaker presided over the meeting of Assembly under rule 6(2) of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997 and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).
Oath:-
The newly members-elect made an oath as member of the Punjab Assembly and signed the Roll of Members. Mr. Speaker administered the oath.
Panel of Chairmen:-
Under Rule 13(1) of Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab 1997, the Senior Secretary Assembly announced the Panel of Chairmen in the following order:
Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan (PP-149)
Mrs. Ayesha Javed (W-317)
Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal (PP-148)
Election Procedure for Speaker and Deputy Speaker
The Senior Secretary Punjab Assembly announced the election pattern for Speaker and Deputy Speaker, as envisaged in Rules 9 and 10 of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab 1997.
The House was then adjourned till 11:00 am on Monday 3rd June, 2013.
