Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).
Intimation to the Speaker on release of member:-
Mr. Speaker intimated the House about the release of Sardar Meer Badsha Khan Qaisrani, member elect from PP-240 as envisaged in rule 78 of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab 1997.
General Discussion on Annual Budget for the Year 2013-14
The General discussion on the Annual Budget was started and initiated by Leader of Opposition, Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed. He criticised the government for not allocating any amount for the local governments and discriminatory policy being adopted in the promotion of education system claiming that the government was spending Rs. 16,000 on each child in Danish School while just 15 paisa was spent on student studying in ordinary government public schools. He proposed to the government for initiating online system for the registration of FIR’s and constituting Mobile Courts. He further criticized the Finance Minister for giving different figures for the revenue collection and stated that it was not Tax Free Budget and tax is imposed on five marla houses.
