Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).
Oath:-
The member-elect Mst. Zill-e-Huma (W-349), made an oath as member of the Punjab Assembly and signed the Roll of Members. Mr. Speaker administered the oath.
Privilege Motion:-
The Privilege motion moved by Raja Shaukat Aziz Bhatti regarding misbehavior of Waheed -Ur-Rehman, SP Sadar, Rawalpindi with the member concerned was referred to the Special Committee.
The Motion was answered by Rana Sana Ullah Khan, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs.
General Discussion on Supplementary Budget for the Year 2012-13:-
Mian Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, Minister for Finance winded up the General Discussion on Supplementary Budget for the Year 2012-13. While countering the opposition members’ speeches he said Supplementary grant is required in emergency situation. Explaining the utilization of Rs.82 billion last year as supplementary budget, he said Rs.38 billion was used on the purchase of Wheat which benefited Farmers and encouraged growth of these commodities, and Rs.28 billion was used on technical supplementary grant. Hence, the actual volume of the supplementary grant is about Rs.17 billion which is far below the amount allowed under the law. Of this amount, he said Rs.10 billion was spent on the education sector and the rest on health and law and order, so there was no question of extravagancy about that spending. The House was then adjourned till Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
