Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).
OATH: −
The member-elect Mrs. Shamona Badshah Qaisrani (PP-240) made oath as member of the Punjab Assembly and signed the Roll of Members. The Speaker administered the oath.
Question Hour: −
Questions relating to School Education Department were asked and Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Minister for Education answered the questions.
Call Attention Notices:-
Four Call Attention Notices were taken up. The Notice moved by Mr. Shehzad Munshi regarding kidnapping of Asma Heera d/o Tariq Ali by Imran Ali s/o Shan Ali and death of Mr Adnan Masih due to police torture in the said case at Sharaqpur Police station District Sheikhupura, the Notice of Dr. Nausheen Hamid regarding killing of Sayed Arshad Ali Shah, Advocate by the unknown motorcyclists at Misry Shah, Lahore, the notice of Mian Tariq Mehmood regarding assassination of Peer Phool Shah and his six relatives by motor-cycle terrorists at Village Jasokey, Gujrat, and the notice of Mrs Nabeela Hakim Ali Khan regarding dacoity by a dacoit appearing as cable operator looting cash, gold jewelry, mobile phone etc worth Rs.6 lacs from the residence of Mr Hameed Khan were disposed of.
The Notices were answered by Rana Sanaullah Khan, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs.
Privilege Motion:-
The Privilege Motion moved by Mr. Abu Hafs Muhammad Ghiyas-ud-Din regarding misbehavior of AC, Shakargarh with the member concerned was kept pending till Friday.
The Motion was answered by Mr. Khalil Tahir Sindhu, Minister for Human Rights.
Adjournment Motions:-
Eight Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Mr. Ramesh Singh Arora regarding massive corruption worth billions of rupees by former Evacuee Trust Property Board Chairman Syed Asif Hashmi, who distributed state land allocated to gurdwaras and temples among Qabza Mafia and had fled from Pakistan alongwith plundered money one of such examples is 65 acres state land in Nankana Sahib reserved for gurdwara occupied in the name of development of Lawyer’s Housing Colony. He feared that it would not only damage the national image internationally but also weaken the writ of the Government to safeguard the rights of the minorities, the Motion of Mr. Muhammad Arif Abbasi regarding drowning of Mr Noor Allah s/o Saeed Khan, in the Nala Lai, Rawalpindi whose dead body could not be recovered. Government and Administration should be directed to take appropriate steps in this regard by assigning the duty to Navy swimmers to recover his dead body, the Motion moved by Mr. Muhammad Arshad Malik, Advocate regarding accommodating victims of flood at Ravi River, the Motion moved by Mst. Kanwal Nauman regarding increase in the prices of flour and wheat and carelessness of Government to release wheat from its godowns to lessen the shortage of flour in the open market, four motions moved by Sheikh Ala-ud-Din, one regarding 12 posts of Professors lying vacant at King Edward Medical University. Similarly different departments of Mayo Hospital are also working without the services of professors, the second motion regarding introduction of “Centralized Admission software” which can be useful to know how many seats are available in the different colleges of Lahore after final enrolment of the students, Lahore, were disposed of. The third motion moved by him regarding appointment of male Principal instead of female Principal at Fatima Jinnah Medical College was kept pending till 3-12-2013 and the last Motion demanding installation of waste water treatment plants at River Ravi, starting from the point of Babu Sabu was kept pending till Friday.
Three Adjournment Motions No. 655,679 and 852 were disposed of under rule 83 (e) of Rules of Procedures of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997, since those all were identical and related to price hike and general discussion on the same subject was to be followed.
