Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, Acting Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).
Question Hour: −
Questions relating to the Industries, Commerce & Investment were asked and answered by Ch Muhammad Shafique Minister for Industries, Commerce & Investment.
At this stage, the acting Speaker welcomed Sheikh Saeed, President Pakistan Muslims League (N) in Saudi Arabia accompanied by Mr Tala Alnashmi (Director of second largest group of Saudi Arabia) and son of Mr Abdur Rehman Nashmi (Finance Advisor) of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sitting in the visitor’s gallery.
Call Attention Notices:-
Three Call Attention Notice were taken up. The notice of Sardar Muhammad Jamal Khan Laghari regarding kidnapping of twenty women for ransom and molestation by Ghulam Hussain Zangani (an absconder) at Taman Khosa (tribal area), Dera Ghazi Khan, the second Call Attention Notice moved by Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, Leader of the Opposition, regarding killing and rape of 3 years old girl in Moza Vacha at Rahim Yar Khan and the last Call Attention Notice of Mian Tariq Mehmood regarding killing of Mehr Ghulam Hussain in P.S. Dingha, Gujrat and police failed to arrest criminals were dispose of.
The Call Attention Notices were answered by Rana Sana Ullah Khan, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs.
Privilege Motions:-
Four Privilege Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Pir Khizer Hayat Shah Khagga regarding misbehaviour of Mr. Farukkh, SHO, Ghallah Mandi, Sahiwal with the Member concerned, the Motion of Sheikh Ala-ud-Din regarding a column by Dr. Safdar Mehmood in daily “Jang” using derogatory remarks about Members of Provincial Assembly of the Punjab and the Motion of Dr. Nadia Aziz regarding misbehaviour of Vice Chancellor, Mr Akram Chaudhry and Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Zahoor Elahi with Members of the Punjab Assembly, who were attending the meeting of Syndicate at University of Sargodha were kept pending till next week.
The Motion of Rana Tahir Shabbir regarding misbehaviour of Mr. Shahid Mehmood, EDO Education, Multan with the Member concerned was disposed of.
The motions were answered by Rana Sana Ullah Khan Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs.
Suspension of Rules:-
On a motion moved by Rana Sana Ullah Khan Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs under Rule 234 of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab 1997, the House granted leave to suspend Rule 115 and others of the rules ibid, for taking up the following Resolution.
Resolution:-
The Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sana Ullah tabled a resolution on behalf of Treasury, over riding the one previously filed with the Speaker office by the PML Member Ch Moonis Elahi. The Resolution lauded the services of armed forces in peace and war times which are assets of the nation and expressed solidarity with their mission of defending frontiers of the Country, eliminating terrorism and making it impregnable. It appreciated the role of martyrs who laid their lives in countering outside aggression. At the same time the resolution slated the elements who are trying to make national institutions controversial for their political and ulterior motives and pledged that they would not let these elements succeed in their nefarious designs.
Adjournment Motions:-
Motion of Sheikh Ala-ud-Din regarding giving 50 Kanals of Land of Punjab University on lease to the Daewoo Pakistan Bus Service was disposed of.
The Motion was answered by Mr. Khalil Tahir Sindhu, Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs.
Government Business;
The Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sana Ullah Khan introduced “Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology, Rahim Yar Khan Bill 2014” which was referred to the Standing Committee on Education for report with in one month.
The House was then adjourned till 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 20th May, 2014.
