(a) CONSIDERATION AND PASSAGE OF BILL

      KHWAJA FAREED UNIVERSITY OF ENGINEERING AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, RAHIM YAR KHAN BILL 2014 (Bill No. 17 of 2014)

            A MINISTER to move that Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology, Rahim Yar Khan Bill 2014, as recommended by the Standing Committee on Education, be taken into consideration at once.

            A MINISTER to move that Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology, Rahim Yar Khan Bill 2014, be passed.

Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, Acting Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).

Question Hour: −

Questions relating to the Labour & Human Resource and Social Welfare Departments were asked and Raja Ashfaq Sarwar Minister for Labour & Human Resource and Haji Muhammad Ilyas Ansari, Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal answered the questions.

Call Attention Notices:

Two Call Attention Notices were taken up. The Call Attention Notice of Mr. Ahmed Khan Bhachar regarding dacoity of Rs.1.3 Million by forcibly entering the house of Mr Ijaz at Harbanspura Lahore and the second Notice of Dr Murad Rass regarding dacoity of 7 lacs rupees in the house of Mr Irshad located at Southern Cant area, Lahore.

Both the Notices were disposed of as the movers were absent.

Privilege Motions:-

Three Privilege Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Pir Khizer Hayat Shah Khagga regarding misbehaviour of Mr. Farukkh, SHO, Ghallah Mandi, Sahiwal with the Member concerned, the Motion of Sheikh Ala-ud-Din regarding a column by Dr. Safdar Mehmood in daily “Jang” using derogatory remarks about Members of Provincial Assembly of the Punjab were disposed of. The Motion of Dr. Nadia Aziz regarding misbehaviour of Mr Akram Chaudhry, Vice Chancellor, and Dr Zahoor Elahi, Pro Vice Chancellor with Members of the Punjab Assembly, who were attending the meeting of Syndicate at University of Sargodha was referred to the Privilege Committee.

The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sana Ullah Khan.

Adjournment Motions:-

The Following Adjournment Motions were taken up:- The Motions moved by Sheikh Ala-ud-Din one regarding non acceptance of DNA test as strong evidence in the cases of rape by Islamic Ideology Council as envisaged in its current judgment and the other motion regarding closure of BS Programme at Murray College Sialkot by the University of Gujrat, were kept pending till Wednesday, 28 May, 2014. The adjournment motion of Ch Aamir Sultan Cheema and the motion of Ms Nighat Sheikh regarding provision of latest fire fighting equipment to the Fire Fighters at Fire Fighting Department to counter fire incidents and making the employees more financially strong were disposed of.

Consideration and Passage of Bill:-

Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sana Ullah Khan moved “Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology, Rahim Yar Khan Bill 2014 (Bill No.17 of 2014)”, which was considered and passed by the House.

GENERAL DISCUSSION ON HEALTH

The general discussion on Health was kept pending due to boycott by the Opposition Members.

The House was then adjourned till 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 27th May, 2014.
