Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).

Question Hour

Questions relating to Agriculture Department were asked and Dr. Farrukh Javed, Minister for Agriculture answered the questions.

Laying of Report

Ch Muhammad Akram presented the report of Standing Committee on Education in respect of: “The Punjab Higher Education Commission Bill 2014 (Bill No. 27 of 2014)” before the House.

Extension in Time Limit for Laying the Report

On a Motion moved by Ch. Aamir Sultan Cheema, the House granted two months extension to the Standing Committee on Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering for laying its reports on “Adjournment Motions No.237/14 and 728/14”.

At this stage, Mr. Speaker welcomed Mr. Jamil Hassan Khan, MPA, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in the House who was kidnapped and was attending first sitting after his recovery.

Adjournment Motions:-

Four Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Ms. Hina Pervaiz Butt regarding prevalence of illegal parallel banking in Lahore, the Motion of Qazi Ahmad Saeed regarding Shelter Homes working under the supervision and control of Social Welfare Department Punjab have poor and weak administration, were disposed of. Two motions of Mian Tariq Mehmood, one regarding shortage of staff in Anti-corruption Department led to 500 pending inquiries and the second Motion regarding stoppage of water supply by the influential people at Chak No.69/RB Rehmanpura of Tehsil Jaranwala, District Faisalabad after forcibly occupying the area where water reservoir was located, were kept pending till next week.

The Motions were answered by Ch. Nazar Hussain, Parliamentary Secretary for Law & Parliamentary Affairs.

Government Business

Introduction of Bills 

Mr. Sher Ali Khan, Minister for Mines & Minerals introduced the following Bills before the House , which were referred to the concerned standing committees with the direction to submit its reports within two months “THE PUNJAB STRATEGIC COORDINATION (AMENDMENT) BILL 2014” and “THE PUNJAB LOCAL GOVERNMENT (THIRD AMENDMENT) BILL 2014”. 

GENERAL DISCUSSION

General Discussion on issues pertaining to Health was pending on the request of Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Khawaja Imran Nazir.

The House was then adjourned till 9:00 a.m on Friday, 26^th December, 2014.
