Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).

Question Hour

Questions relating to Higher Education Department were asked and Ms. Mehwish Sultana, Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education answered the questions.

Adjournment Motions

Seven Adjournment Motions were taken up. Six Motions were moved by Sheikh Ala-ud-Din, one regarding export of expired and unhygienic meat by a Chinese firm to Pakistani company which is a supplier of known franchise in Pakistan “MacDonald’s” and this meat is harmful for health of general public was kept pending. The second Motion regarding Lahore being declared the 10th most polluted city of the world by WHO and one of the reasons of its pollution is installation of coal power plant in Indian Punjab, third Motion regarding non-availability of potable water to the residents of Government Chauburji Gardens Estate Multan Road Lahore due to non functional condition of transformer lying defective since long because of negligence of staff of the concerned department, fourth Motion  regarding continuous drop out of more than 3 million students from Government schools and moving to private schools for admission because substandard quality of education is imparted in government schools without teachers, fifth Motion regarding dilapidated condition of buildings, sewerage and infrastructure of Walled City of Lahore and inefficiency of Walled City Lahore Authority to undertake the task of completing renovation work of these ruined buildings on emergency basis and save residents of the area from any untoward incident, the last Motion regarding embezzlement and misuse of millions of rupees from Government account by few officers of the department allocated for the development of Walled City of Lahore by submitting fake receipts and the Motion moved by Ch Aamir Sultan Cheema regarding pollution caused by 60 tyre factories extracting oil from tyres and inability of District Administration to seal these factories, were disposed of.

The Motions were answered by Ch. Nazar Hussain, Parliamentary Secretary for Law & Parliamentary Affairs.

Government Business

General Discussion on Grievances of Sugarcane Growers

At this stage, the quorum was pointed out and general discussion on grievances of sugarcane growers could not be initiated place.

The House was then adjourned till 3:00 p.m on Monday, 29th December, 2014.
