Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, Acting Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).

Question Hour

Questions relating to Zakat & Ushr and Law & Parliamentary Affairs Departments were asked and Malik Nadeem Kamran, Minister for Zakat & Ushr and Ch. Nazar Hussain, Parliamentary Secretary for Law & Parliamentary Affairs answered the questions.

Privilege Motion

The Privilege Motion moved by Ms. Raheela Khadim Hussain regarding use of
indignifying
and derogatory remarks about female members elected against reserved seats by Syeda Abida Hussain, Ex-MNA/MPA, in a private TV channel morning show and called them charity seats, was kept pending.

Laying of Reports

Makhdoom Syed Muhammad Masood Alam presented before the House the reports of Standing Committee on Home Affairs in respect of the following:-

1. The Punjab Security of Vulnerable Establishments Bill 2015 (Bill No. 1 of 2015);

2. The Punjab Information of Temporary Residents Bill 2015 (Bill No. 2 of 2015); and

3. The Punjab Sound Systems (Regulation) Bill 2015 (Bill No. 5 of 2015).

Extension in Time Limit for Laying the Reports

On a Motion moved by Ch. Muhammad Iqbal, the House granted two months extension to the Committee on Privileges for laying its reports in respect of “Privilege Motions No. 12 for the year 2013, 15,20,25,26,27,32, for the year 2014 and 1,2 for the year 2015”.

On a Motion moved by Mian Naseer Ahmad, the House granted two months extension to the Standing Committee on Transport for laying its report in respect of “Question No. 2338/2014 moved by Mian Tariq Mehmood, MPA (PP-113)”.

On a Motion moved by Mian Tariq Mehmood, the House granted one year extension from 13th December 2014 to the Public Accounts Committee-II for laying its reports in respect of “Expenditure of Punjab Government for the year 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2007-08 and report of Auditor General of Pakistan for the year 2003-04, 2005-06 and 2007-08”.

Adjournment Motions

Three Adjournment Motions were taken up. Two Motions moved by Ch. Aamir Sultan Cheema, one regarding identification of corruption of Rs.40 million by DG, Anti-Corruption, Mr. Anwer Rasheed exposing former and current officers of Irrigation Department in store and workshop, Sheikhupura Mechanical Division and money misused by the accused under the head of repair and service of defective tube-wells, the second Motion regarding 112 vacancies of doctors and other staff are lying vacant at District Headquarter Hospital, Narowal which have not been filled even on the repeated requests of Medical Superintendent and EDO Health that performance of the hospital is being effected, were disposed of as the mover was not present. The Motion moved by Ms. Hina Pervaiz Butt regarding the mixing of highly dangerous chemicals like sulphur etc. in the imported LPG causing Cancer and other fatal diseases to increase its volume unabashedly and unchecked by concerned authorities, was kept pending till next week.

The Motions were answered by Ch. Nazar Hussain, Parliamentary Secretary for Law & Parliamentary Affairs.

The Acting Speaker on the request of Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Minister for Labour & Human Resources, postponed general discussion on Food, Agriculture and problems being faced by sugarcane growers till the next sitting of the House on March 2nd, 2015.

The House was then adjourned till Monday, March 2nd, 2015 at 2:00 pm.
