Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, Acting Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).

Question Hour

Questions relating to Communication & Works Department were asked and Mr Tanveer Aslam Malik, Minister for Housing, Urban Development & Public Health Engineering (holding additional charge of Communication & Works) answered the questions.

Laying of Report

Mr Mehdi Abbas Khan presented before the House the report of Committee on Privileges in respect of Privilege Motion No. 26 for the year 2014 and No.6 for the year 2015.

Extension in Time Limit for Laying the Report

On a Motion moved by Mrs Shameela Aslam, the House granted two months extension to the Standing Committee on Education for laying its report on “Adjournment Motion No.1199/14 moved by Mr Amjad Ali Javaid, MPA (PP-86)”.

Adjournment Motions

Eight Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Mian Nasir Ahmed regarding illegal construction of residence at Jampur after demolition of mosque by PTI leaders and sitting MPAs Mr Nasrullah Khan Dreshak and Sardar Ali Raza Khan Dreshak and illegally grabbing 4 Kanals government land owned by Irrigation Department, two Motions moved by Mian Tariq Mehmood, one regarding construction of substandard road in district Gujrat from Chichian to Sadheri via Cheninakwani worth 55 millions rupees which was completed in 2014 and after the passage of one year it is in despair condition and is not fit for traffic load and it is with the connivance of staff of the concerned department with the contractor, who due to their support is not being blacklisted rather working on other government projects, the second Motion that buildings of elementary colleges for girls and boys at Lala Musa are in dilapidated condition where hundreds of male and female teachers are getting training and due to despair condition of buildings, trainees are mentally upset and uncomfortable and do not focus on their studies, two Motions moved by Aamir Sultan Cheema, one regarding machinery and vehicles of SCARP Department worth millions of rupees have become defective and useless while lying non-functional under the open sky due to which parts/implements of machinery have been lost and the second Motion regarding shortage of medicines in various government hospitals of Lahore, consequently, free medicines are not available to patients and they have to face problems as their expenditure has increased  when they have to purchase medicines from the market, the Motion moved by Ms Nighat Sheikh that due to delay in the release of funds to Archaeology Department, renovation of historical buildings in Punjab is at slow pace and on going and new development project will be completed within extended period were kept pending. The Motion moved by Ch Aamir Sultan Cheema regarding purchase of expired medicines in hospitals and health units in Sargodha in connivance with the staff of Health Department and the Motion moved by Ms Faiza Ahmad Malik regarding purchase and provision of 2 lacs substandard blood bags by Blood Transfusion Services Punjab in Blood Banks of government hospitals, purchased by a blacklisted firm “Linkers Asia”, which is making profit of millions of rupees and blood bags of this company are banned in private hospitals were disposed of.

The Motions were answered by Ch. Nazar Hussain, Parliamentary Secretary for Law & Parliamentary Affairs.

PRE-BUDGET DISCUSSION

Pre-Budget discussion continued for the fourth day and the following members participated in the discussion: Khawaja Muhammad Nizam-ul-Mehmood, Malik Ahmad Saeed Khan, Mrs Fozia Ayub Qureshi, Mrs Tehseen Fawad, Mrs Azra Sabir Khan and Mian Muhammad Islam Aslam.

The House was then adjourned till Friday, April 3rd, 2015 at 9:00 am.
