Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, Deputy Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).

Question Hour

Questions relating to Agriculture Department were asked and Dr. Farrukh Javed, Minister for Agriculture answered the questions.

Adjournment Motions   

Ten Adjournment Motions were moved. The Motion moved by Ms Nighat Sheikh that due to delay in the release of funds to Archaeology Department, renovation of historical buildings in Punjab is at slow pace and ongoing and new development project will be completed within extended period, the Motion moved by Ch Aamir Sultan Cheema regarding shortage of medicines in various government hospitals of Lahore, consequently, free medicines are not available to patients and they have to face problems as their expenditure has increased  when they have to purchase medicines from the market and the Motion moved by Mr Ahmed Shah Khagga regarding theft of donkeys from the residences of farmers in Sambrial to sell  their meat, were disposed of. Two Motions moved by Ch Aamir Sultan Cheema one regarding massive embezzlement of millions of rupees in Punjab Arts Council has been disclosed for which inquiry has been initiated by Anti-Corruption Department, the second Motion moved out of turn regarding illegal possession of Government land by land mafia in Anarkali Bazar located at Bhaghtanwala Sargodha City in connivance with the employees of Revenue Department and illegal construction of shops and drawing huge amount thereof thus rendering immense loss to public exchequer, two motions moved by Mian Tariq Mehmood one regarding dilapidated condition of Matianwali Road near Sekarwali, District Gujrat due to substandard material used by the contractor, whereupon a number of accidents have taken place and the other motion regarding non-provision of privileges to two deceased employees of Punjab Police due to sluggishness of officers of the department. Mr Khayyam Razzaq a constable while getting training at Elite Training School, Bedian Road, Lahore and the other deceased Mr Muhammad Bhatti Sub-Inspector posted at Shadbagh Lahore Investigation died during police encounter have neither been conferred upon privileges of a martyr nor their families have received privileges of a civil servant including legal grants and offering employment to one of their dependents, the Motion moved by Mr Ehsan Riaz Fatyana regarding a mega sewerage scheme constructed worth almost three and a half billion rupees at Rahim Yar Khan city has become flop and roads of posh areas have become pools of water, for this matter inquiry was held by CMIT but its report has not yet been made public, two Motions moved by Sheikh Ala-ud-Din one regarding what he called “medical terrorism” consequently, most of the city Hospitals including Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Children Hospital and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital are treating three to four patients on one bed hence targeting the poor patients of the province by not providing them basic health facilities and demanded to review health policy to facilitate and treat patients; and that health conditions at Mayo Hospital were deplorable and the major reason behind it was the ego of its former MS, who separated the Institution from King Edward Medical University and gave it directly under the control of Health department.  He slammed the role  of doctors (Professors) who preach Islam but act like a butcher when treat their patients. He stated that Hepatitis patients were being treated through Dialysis machines leading to shocking results. He emphasized to create awareness among general public to improve their food habits, the second Motion that there is drastic increase in the incidents of sexual harassment and molestation of children and that steps should be taken on war footing to save them from such dreadful crimes and culprits should be punished through summary trials, moreover electronic media should play active role to trace these crimes; madrassas, highways, motorways and hotels located near bus stands should be properly supervised through video tracker system were kept pending.

 

Due to the absence of concerned Ministers, rest of the agenda was kept pending till May 21 2015.

The House was then adjourned till Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 10:00 am.
