Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, Deputy Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).

Question Hour

Questions relating to Agriculture Department were asked and Dr. Farrukh Javed, Minister for Agriculture answered the questions.

Extension in Time Limit for Laying the Report

On a Motion moved by Mr. Amanat Ullah Khan Shadi Khel, the House granted one month extension to the Standing Committee on Colonies for laying its reports in respect of the following: -

1.         Starred Question Nos. 3529/2014, 3690/2014 and 4400/2016 moved by Mr. Amjad Ali Javaid, MPA (PP-86); and

2.         Starred Question No. 3254/2014 moved by Ch. Iftikhar Hussain Chhachhar, MPA (PP-188).

Adjournment Motions

Two Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Mr. Amjad Ali Javaid regarding teaching of private schools syllabus which is full of errors in the schools running under Labour Department rather than teaching the syllabus published by Punjab Textbook Board and the Motion moved by Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed regarding ongoing operation of Zarb-e-Ahan in the area of Katchey, District Rajanpur, in which seven policemen were martyred and twenty were made hostage by the dacoits of the gang, thus held Punjab Government responsible for the loss of precious lives of police officers and contended that the government should have called for the help of Rangers much earlier to avoid these casualties, were disposed of.

The Motions were replied by the concerned Ministers/Parliamentary Secretaries.

General Discussion

Discussion on Annual Report of the Punjab Bait-ul-Maal for the year 2013

Haji Muhammad Ilyas Ansari, Parliamentary Secretary for Bait-ul-Maal initiated discussion on Annual Report of the Punjab Bait-ul-Maal for the year 2013. The following members participated in the discussion: Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, Mr. Amjad Ali Javaid and Mian Muhammad Rafique. Due to paucity of time, discussion was kept pending for the next Session.

Zero Hour

Two Notices were taken up. Sheikh Ala-ud-Din contended in the Notice moved by him that as per Poverty Estimation Seminar held on 7 April 2016 in Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Federal Ministers for Finance and Planning, 60 million people in Pakistan, majority in Punjab are living below the poverty line and data as collected by NADRA will help the Government to identify the deserving individuals to provide them kitchen items on 50% discounted rates and the second Notice was moved by Mr. Amjad Ali Javaid. He observed that illegal car or motorcycle token fee amounting to Rs.10 to 20 from students and Rs.30 to 40 from outsiders was being charged by the college administration in Government Faridia Postgraduate College, Pakpattan causing for students’ distress. The Notices were kept pending for the next session.

 Fateha

The House offered Fateha for the policemen martyred in the ongoing operation against Chotu gang in the area of Katchay, District Rajanpur.

The Chair read out the Prorogation Order of the Governor of the Punjab and the House was prorogued.
