Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).

Fateha

The House offered Fateha on the sad demise of Ms. Jayeda Khalid, Ex-MPA and also for mother of Mr. Muhammad Arif Abbasi, MPA (PP-13).

Question Hour

Questions relating to Food, Zakat & Ushr and Livestock & Dairy Development Departments were asked and Ch. Muhammad Asad Ullah, Parliamentary Secretary for Food, Raja Muhammad Awais Khalid, Parliamentary Secretary for Zakat & Ushr and Mr. Asif Saeed Manais, Minister for Livestock & Dairy Development answered the questions.

Laying of Report

Rana Munawar Hussain alias Rana Munawar Ghous Khan presented before the House the report of Standing Committee on Education in respect of “The University of Home Economics Lahore Bill 2016 (Bill No. 38 of 2016)”.

Leave of Absence

Rai Mumtaz Hussain Babar, Senior Secretary, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, read out the leave applications of the following Members and the House granted them leave:-

Adjournment Motions

Three Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Ms.‏ Raheela Anwar regarding receiving bogus subsidy of 120 dollars per ton from the Government by Mill owners in connivance with influential personalities and government servants of the concerned departments on the export of wheat, the Motion moved by Ms. Nighat Sheikh regarding illegal business of kidney transplant in the Punjab and inability of Human Organ Transplantation Authority (HOTA) to suppress such unlawful activities and the last Motion moved by Sardar Vickas Hassan Mokal regarding shortage of Sofosovir tablets a medicine used for the treatment of patients suffering from Hepatitis in the public hospitals, were kept pending till next week.

Introduction of Bills

On the request of Rana Sana Ullah Khan, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, the Bills proposed to be introduced in the House were kept pending.

Private Members Day

Resolutions in the Public Interest

Ms.‏ Faiza Mushtaq moved a resolution recommending PEMRA to direct cable operators to ban cartoon network channels showing contents with Hindi dubbing as such channels were corrupting language of coming generation and suggesting that Urdu dubbing should be made mandatory for cartoon channels, was passed by the House.

Dr. Syed Waseem Akhtar moved a resolution that in accordance with Federal government, Punjab Government should also include education of the Holy Quran in syllabus for Muslim students at school and college levels was unanimously passed by the House.

Dr. Murad Rass through a resolution recommended the Government of Pakistan to develop a website on the life and achievement of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to have easy access to his philosophy and principles, was kept pending as the mover was not present.

The resolution moved by Ms.‏ Shazia Kamran demanded to name an unnamed eye hospital in Lahore as “Mian Shuja-ur-Rahman Eye Hospital” was passed by the House.

The resolution moved by Malik Taimoor Masood demanded stern legal action under the law against those selling adulterated and substandard milk across the Province, was passed by the House.

The House was then adjourned at 01:27 p.m. to meet on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
