Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, Acting Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool ﷺ.
General Discussion on Annual Budget for the year 2017-18
Mian Mehmood ur Rashid, Leader of the Opposition, initiated general discussion on Annual Budget 2017-18 and criticized the Government, expressed dissatisfaction with the budgetary outlay and failed to benefit the poor. He said that billions were reduced in several important sectors as compared to last year including education, power and electricity and clean drinking water. The budget allocated last year for several sectors could not be utilized and remained unspent. Regarding agriculture, Leader of the Opposition said that government lacked the policy related to this sector and could not come up with any innovative agriculture policy and the out of date policies are being employed. He said that all the schemes related to creation of employment have failed.
Raja Shaukat Aziz Bhatti, Al-Haj Muhammad Ilyas Chinioti, Qazi Ahmad Saeed, Rana Munawar Hussain alias Rana Munawar Ghous Khan participated in the general discussion on Annual Budget.
