ایک عالمی ادارے کی رپورٹ کے مطابق 45 فیصد پاکستانی بچوں کی ذہنی و جسمانی نشوونما غیرمتوازن غذا کی وجہ سے متاثر ہو رہی ہے۔ لہذا یہ ایوان حکومت پاکستان سے مطالبہ کرتا ہے کہ بچوں کی ذہنی و جسمانی نشوونما کو بہتر بنانے کیلئے طویل مدتی اقدامات کئے جائیں۔

Question Hour

The House was adjourned at 11:52 a.m. for ten minutes due to absence of Secretary Communication & Works and on his arrival the proceedings resumed at 12:30 p.m.

Questions relating to Communication & Works and Population Welfare Departments were asked and Mr Tanveer Aslam Malik, Minister for Communication & Works and Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmad Bherth, Minister for Population Welfare answered the questions.

Extension in Time Limit for Laying the Reports

On a Motion moved by Ms Ayesha Javed, the House granted two months extension to the Special Committee No.9 for laying its report on The Issue of MCAT and ECAT entry tests raised by Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal, MPA (PP-148) as well as Adjournment Motion No.943/2017 moved by Sardar Shahabuddin Khan, MPA (PP-263).

On a Motion moved by Haji Malik Muhammad Waheed, the House granted two months extension to the Standing Committee on Excise & Taxation for laying its report on Starred Question No.8288 asked by Mr Muhammad Arshad Malik Advocate, MPA, (PP-222).

On a Motion moved by Mr Amjad Ali Javed, the House granted two months extension to the Standing Committee on Health for laying its reports in respect of the following: -

1.         The Punjab Prohibition of Sheesha Smoking Bill 2014 (Bill No.6 of 2014) moved by Ch Shahbaz Ahmad, MPA (PP-143);

2.         Matter raised by Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, MPA, Leader of Opposition on a Point of Order regarding Allegations of Corruption/Irregularities in Procurement of Medical/Surgical Items;

3.         Adjournment Motion No.618;

4.         Starred Questions No.3020, 7148, 3559, 8037; and

5.         Zero Hour No.176.

Adjournment Motions

Eleven Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion of Mian Mehmood ur Rashid regarding embezzlement in Project Management Unit (PMU) developed by Government of the Punjab, the Motion of Ms Baasima Chaudhry regarding disclosure of corruption and irregularities of Rs.5 million in Punjab Employees Social Security Institution and no action has yet been taken against the culprits, the Motion of Sardar Vickas Hasan Mokal regarding concealing 90 rickshaws purchased for the cleanliness of interior Lahore on the directions of MD, LWMC, Mr Bilal Mustafa Syed, the Motion of Mr Ahmed Khan Bhacher regarding Punjab Government policy to sell wheat to the flour mills has been  failed badly due to mismanagement and inefficiency of administration and godowns are stockpiled with wheat worth millions of rupees, the Motion of Mr Mannan Khan regarding traffic problems are intensifying in Lahore effecting its smooth flow, the Motion of Ms Shunila Ruth regarding sale of substandard chemical mixed milk in Pakistan, the fourth milk producing largest country in the world due to the monopoly of multinational companies and people are compelled to purchase this milk which is harmful for their health, were disposed of. The Motion of Mr Ahmed Khan Bhacher that there are four or five renowned bakeries in Lahore with number of branches  upon which there is no check and balance and they revise the rates of bakery items on their own, the Motion of Sardar Vickas Hasan Mokal that due to poor planning stocktaking could not be started in Punjab Livestock Department, the Motion moved by Ms Khdija Umar regarding contract employees working in Punjab Revenue Authority have not been regularized even after the passage of four years neither they are receiving minimum wages stand at Rs.15,000, the Motion moved by Ms Nighat Sheikh regarding mushroom of fast food points and increasing trend of eating fast food among young generation resulting in health complications and the Motion moved by Ms.Saadia Sohail Rana regarding non-availability of clean drinking water in public hospitals in Lahore consequently, patients and their attendants have to use contaminated water, were kept pending.

Resolutions in the Public Interest

1.         The resolution moved by Ms Nabila Hakim Ali Khan that according to the report of an international organization the mental and physical growth of 45 percent children in Pakistan is being effected due to imbalanced diet and demanding the Government of Pakistan to take long term measures to improve the mental and physical growth of children, was kept pending.

2.         The resolution of Mr Ahmed Khan Bhacher demanding the Federal Government to take steps to provide electricity in Tola Bangi Khel and its adjacent areas, was kept pending.

3.         The resolution moved by Mr Muhammad Sibtain Khan demanding to take stringent action as per law against those involved in fire-works and aerial firing during wedding functions, was unanimously passed by the House.

4.         The resolution moved by Dr. Syed Waseem Akhtar regarding provision of free travelling facility in Speedo Bus service to the elderly and disable people, was unanimously passed by the House.

5.         The resolution moved by Ms. Hina Pervaiz Butt to launch a vigorous public awareness campaign about deadly seasonal influenza across the province, was unanimously passed by the House.

The House was then adjourned at 01:56 p.m. to meet on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
