Question Hour

Questions relating to Irrigation and Excise & Taxation Departments were asked and Mr. Amanat Ullah Khan Shadi Khel, Minister for Irrigation and Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur- Rehman, Minister for Excise & Taxation answered the questions.

Laying of Report

Mr. Mumtaz Ahmad Qaisrani (Bhutto Khan) presented before the House the report of Standing Committee on Housing, Urban Development & Public Health Engineering in respect of “The Bahawalpur Development Authority (Repeal) Bill 2018 (Bill No. 6 of 2018)”.

Leave of Absence

Rai Mumtaz Hussain Babar, Senior Secretary, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, read out the leave applications of the following Members and the House granted them leave:-Bao Akhtar Ali (PP-144), Ch Irshad Ahmad Arain (PP-233), Mr. Kanji Ram (NM-365), Rai Mansab Ali Khan (PP-202), Ms.‏ Nighat Intisar Bhatti (PP-107), Al-Haaj Muhammad Ilyas Chinioti (PP-73) and Dr. Najma Afzal Khan (W-320).

Adjournment Motions

Three Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Dr. Syed Waseem Akhtar demanding to expand Dajal Canal to Tehsil Rajanpur to irrigate one hundred and fifty thousand acres land distributed in 1998-99 among landless farmers by the provincial government, the Motion moved by Ms.‏ Saadia Sohail Rana regarding sale of sub-standard mineral water bottles in Lahore harmful for health and out of 150 companies only 15% are registered and the last Motion moved by Dr. Murad Rass regarding disobeying directions of Chief Minister Punjab in the provision of  facilities to the special students in the educational institutions of Punjab including fees exemption, provision of electric wheel chairs, laptops and construction of special tracks; rather the directions were violated and provision of facilities were refused referring to their Universities Acts, were kept pending till next week.

On a Point of Order raised by Mian Mehmood ur Rashid, Leader of Opposition, regarding mysterious disappearance of Mr. Faisal Subhan, CEO, Multan Mero Bus Construction Company and that Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab, should come to the House and respond in person to the allegations of corruption levelled against him. Amid uproar and sloganeering by the Opposition members the Deputy Speaker adjourned the House at 11:53 a.m. to meet on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
