Summary of Proceedings
FRIDAY, MARCH 10, 2006
Sardar Shaukat Hussain Mazari, Acting Speaker, assumed the chair and proceedings commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran.
QUESTION HOUR:-
Questions relating to Education Department were asked and Ch. Nazar Hussain Gondal, Parliamentary Secretary for Education answered them.
POINT OF ORDERS:-
Rana Sana Ullah on a point of Order appreciated the steps taken by the Punjab Government for banning kite flying in the province and applauded Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs for fulfilling his assurance in the matter.
At this stage Rai Ijaz Ahmad, assumed the Chair.
Another Point of Order was raised by Mr. Sibghat Ullah Chaudhry that perks and privilege of members of Punjab Assembly should be in conformity with the perks and privileges provided to the members of Parliament. The Chair referred the matter to the Standing Committee on Law and Parliamentary Affairs, for appropriate recommendations by 15 March 2006.
PRIVILEGE MOTIONS:-
Total 5 number of Privilege Motions were taken up. Out of which 2 motions moved by Syed Ihsan Ullah Waqas and Malik Jalal Din Dhakoo were kept pending.
The Privilege Motion moved by Rai Umer Farooq Khan Kharal about misconduct of DSP Investigation, Sadarar, Okara was referred to the Privilege committee.
Another Privilege motion moved by Mr. Muhammad Saqlain Anwar regarding misconduct of Mian Rauf SHO Toba Tek Singh was also referred to the privilege committee.
The third Privilege Motion which was referred to the Privilege Committee was moved by Mian Muhammad Latif Panwar Rajput about misconduct of Mr. Sarfraz Sub Inspector.
ADJOURNMENT MOTIONS:-
Total 6 number of Adjournment Motions were taken up. Out of which 4 adjournment motions were kept pending including the Adjournment Motion moved by Sheikh Alauddin and the Adjournment Motion moved (out of turn) by Raja Muhammad Shafqat Khan Abbasi.
Adjournment Motions moved by Syed Hassan Murtaza regarding death of a young girl due to torture by a fake pir, was replied by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law and parliamentary Affairs and disposed of.
GOVERNMENT BUSINESS:-
Ch. Muhammad Iqbal, Minister for Food with additional charge of S&GAD, laid the Annual Report of the Punjab Office of the Ombudsman for the year 2004.
The House was then adjourned till 3.00 pm on Monday, 13 March, 2006.
