Summary of Proceedings
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15, 2006
Sardar Shaukat Hussain Mazari, Acting Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran.
FATEHA:-
The House offered Fateha and paid condolences to Ch. Pervez Elahi, the Leader of the House on the sad demise of his mother.
QUESTION HOUR:-
Questions relating to Irrigation, Social Welfare and Cooperatives departments were asked and answers were given by Ch. Aamir Sultan Cheema, Minister for Irigation, Mrs. Ashifa Riaz Fatyna, Minister for Women Development & Human Rights with additional charge of Social Welfare and Col (Retd) Malik Muhammad Anwar Minister for Cooperatives.
PRIVILEGE MOTIONS:-
A total five number of Privilege Motions were taken up. Out of which four Privilege motions moved by Syed Ihsan Ullah Waqas, Malik Jalal Din Dhakko, Mr. Javed Manzoor Gill and Dr. Muhammad Javed Siddiqui were kept pending.
The Privilege motion moved by Ch. Khizir Illyas Virk regarding misconduct of DSP Sadar Narowal was referred to the Privilege Committee.
ADJOURNMENT MOTIONS:-
A total five number of Adjournment motions were moved. Out of which 2 motions moved by Sheikh Ejaz Ahmad were kept pending.
After Maghrib prayer break Rai Ejaz Ahmad assumed the Chair.
The Adjournment motions moved by Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan and Malik Asghar Ali Qaiser about provision of illegal connections by WASA in Sabzazar sub division Lahore by field staff, thus causing revenue loss to WASA, was replied by Gp. Capt (Retd) Mushtaq Ahmad Kiyani, Minister for Public Health Engineering, with additional charge of Housing, and was disposed of.
The Adjournment motion moved by Sheikh Allaudin was about showing of advertisements on electronic media leading to sale of fake products especially medical products. The Adjournment motion was replied by Dr. Tahir Ali Javed, Minister for Health and was disposed of with the direction by the Chair to the Minister to bring a Bill in the House to eradicate this menace.
POINT OF ORDER:-
Mr. Arshad Mehmood Baggu raised a Point of Order regarding insufficient coverage of Punjab Assembly proceedings on PTV. The Chair directed the Punjab Information Minister to take up the matter with General Manager PTV.
PRIVATE MEMBER’S BUSINESS (in lieu of Tuesday, 14 March, 2006):-
BILLS:-
The pending Bill moved by Mr. Tanveer Ashraf Kaira titled “The University of Arid Agriculture Rawalpindi (Amendment) Bill 2004 (Bill No. 12 of 2004)”, was again pended on the request of Mr. Muhammad Arshad Khan Lodhi, Minister for Agriculture.
Another motion for leave to introduce “The Punjab Office of the Ombudsman (Amendment) Bill 2006 (Bill No. II of 2006)” moved by Mr. Arshad Mehmood Baggu was voted out by the House.
The House was then Adjourned till 3.00 pm on Thursday, March 16, 2006.
