Ch. Muhammad Afzal Sahi, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran.

QUESTION HOUR:-

Questions relating to Local Government and Rural Development Department were asked and answers were given by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Department with additional charge of Law and Parliamentary Affairs.

CALL ATTENTION NOTICES:-

Malik Asghar Ali Qaiser moved Call Attention Notice regarding incident of Tractor snatching in Mana Wala (Sheikhupura) and killing of 22 year old boy at Police Station Bhaki by dacoits. It was answered by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs and was disposed of.

Call Attention Notice moved by Syed Nazim Hussain Shah regarding killing of Ghulam Haider and his two sons by Saeed Butt in Shalimar Town Lahore, was answered by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs and was disposed of.

ADJOURNMENT MOTIONS:-

Total seven Adjournment Motions were taken up. Out of which 3 Adjournment motions moved by Lala Shakeel-ur-Rehman, Rana Sanaullah Khan and Sheikh Alla-ud-Din were kept pending till 3-7-2006 on the request of concerned Ministers.

Adjournment Motion moved by Ms. Uzma Zahid Bokhari regarding death of five year old girl by falling into an un-covered manhole at Pakpattan was replied by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs and was disposed of.

Adjournment Motion moved by Sheikh Ijaz Ahmad about brutal killing of Hammad at Dajkot, Faisalabad by six armed men, was answered by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs and was disposed of.

Uzma Zahid Bokhari moved another Adjournment Motion about supply of sub standard food items of non registered companies in the canteens of major Hospitals of Lahore thus causing health hazards, was replied by Dr. Tahir Ali Javed, Minister for Health and was disposed of.

Adjournment Motion moved by Sheikh Alla-ud-Din regarding monopolization of cement market by cement manufacturers resulting in increase of cement prices thus fleecing people was replied by Mr.  Muhammad Ajmal Cheema, Minister for Industries.

PRIVATE MEMBER’S BUSINESS (PRIVATE MEMBERS’ DAY IN LIEU OF TUESDAY, 27 JUNE 2006):-

RESOLUTIONS:-

Resolution moved by Mst. Zaib-un-Nisa Qureshi regarding establishment of BHUs in every Union Council and provision of female staff in separate Lady Health Centres was opposed by Mr. Tahir Ali Javed, Minister for Health and was voted out by the House.

Mst. Misbah Kokab moved a resolution that public and private transport in the province should phase-wise be converted to CNG was opposed by Rana Shamshad Ahmad Khan, Minister for Transport and was withdrawn by the mover.

Resolution moved by Dr. Tasneem Rasheed about upgradation of status of Fatima Jinnah Medical College Lahore to University was opposed by Dr. Tahir Ali Javed, Minister for Health and was withdrawn by the mover.

Sheikh Alla-ud-Din’s resolution was kept pending till next Private Member’s Day on the request of Minister for Finance.

Resolution of Mrs. Farzana Raja was disposed of due to her absence.

BILL:-

Mr. Muhammad Waqas moved “The Punjab Juvenile Smoking (Amendment) Bill 2006 (Bill No. 6 of 2006)”, which was opposed by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs. Thus withdrawn by the mover.

The House was then adjourned till 9.00 am, on Friday 30 June, 2006.
