SUMMARY OF THE PROCEEDINGS

Ch. Muhammad Afzal Sahi, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran.

QUESTION HOUR:-

Questions relating to Mines & Mineral, Industries and Transport Departments were asked and answers were given respectively by Mr. Muhammad Sibtain Khan, Minister for Mines and Minerals, Mr. Muhammad Ajmal Cheema Minister for Industries and Rana Shamshad Ahmad Khan, Minister for Transport.

ADJOURNMENT MOTIONS:-

Total five Adjournment Motions were taken up. Out of which one Adjournment Motion moved by Sheikh Alla-ud-Din was kept pending till 5-7-2006. While Adjournment Motion of Mrs. Farzana Raja was disposed of due to her absence.

 

The Adjournment Motion moved, out of turn by Rana Sanaullah Khan relating to spread of gastroenteritis epidemic, and deaths caused by it, in Sir Syed Town and Nazmabad areas of Faisalabad, due to contaminated drinking water,  the Chair directed Syed Raza Ali Gillani, Minister for Housing to take necessary action in the matter and motion was disposed of.

 

The Adjournment Motion moved by Haji Muhammad Ijaz regarding dacoity of approximately Rs. 1 Crore in five Jewellery shops of Dharampura Bazaar Lahore was answered by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law and parliamentary Affairs and was disposed of.

 

The Adjournment Motion moved by Rana Sanaullah Khan regarding murder attempt upon Ms. Riffat  lady teacher of Government Girls High School Chak No. 11, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Sargodha, was disposed of after assurance given by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law and parliamentary Affairs.

PRIVATE MEMBER’S BUSINESS:-

RESOLUTIONS:-

(i)         Sheikh Alla-ud-Din moved a resolution that State Bank of Pakistan should take immediate steps to start export of foreign currency from Lahore Airport, which will enable oversees Pakistanis to receive its reasonable rate. Moreover there will be less complications during the movement of such currency. The resolution was opposed by Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Khan Daha, Parliamentary Secretary for Finance. However after extensive debate the resolution was passed by the House.

 

(ii)        Resolution moved by Dr. Syed Waseem Akhtar regarding increase of house rent of Government Employees by Punjab Government up to 25%, in consonance with increase announced by Federal Government for its employees, was pended till next session on the request of mover.

 

(iii)       Ch. Asghar Ali Gujjar moved a resolution recommending the Federal government via Punjab Government that printing of Holy Quran should be in accordance with the prescribed law and printing of Holy Quran on substandard paper should not be exported. Moreover accuseds responsible for such crime should be penalized strictly. The resolution was unanimously carried by the House.

 

The Resolutions of Mrs. Farzana Raja, Mr. Tanvir Ashraf kaira and Mrs. Parveen Masood Bhatti were disposed of due to their absence.

 

The House was then adjourned till 10.00 am, on Wednesday 5 July, 2006.
