Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din Khan son of Chaudhry Muhammad Bashir was born on February 22, 1945 at Gurdaspur, India. He graduated in 1969 from University of the Punjab, Lahore. An agriculturist and a businessman, who served as Member Provincial Assembly of the Punjab during 198890 and 1993-96 and also functioned as Parliamentary Secretary during 1993; has returned to Punjab Assembly for the third term in General Elections 2002, and is serving as Minister for Communications & Works since January 4, 2003. His grandfather, Chaudhry Ali Akbar, served as Member Punjab Legislative Council during 1921-23 and 1924-26 and as Member Punjab Legislative Assembly during 1937-45 and 1946-47; and his uncle, Chaudhry Muhammad Munir, was Member Punjab Legislative Assembly during 1951-55.
