GOVERNOR


 

CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISION

 

According to Article 101 of the Constitution of Pakistan, the Governor of a Province is to be appointed by the President and, he is also directly answerable to him. The Governor holds office during the pleasure of the President, and may be removed by him at any time. He may also resign his office at any time.

LT. GEN (RETD) KHALID MAQBOOL

 

 

Lieutenant General (Retd.) Khalid Maqbool was born in 1948. He was commissioned in the Pakistan Army  in May, 1966. He is a graduate of Staff College Quetta, National Defence College, Rawalpindi and Naval  Post Graduate Institute Montrey, USA, where he attended Senior International Defence Management  Course. He holds M.Sc degree in Defence and  Strategic Studies.

 

            He saw action with an infantry regiment in 1971 war in Kashmir Sector. During his military career he has held the positions of repute including Command of a Corps, Infantry Division Brigade. He has a vast experience in instructional assignments including Chief Instructor at premier institutions of Pakistan i.e. National Defence College and Command and Staff College, Quetta, where he dealt with matters relating to strategy and defence policy at the national level. He also remained the Defence and Military Attache to USA for two and half years.

 

            He was Chairman, National Accountability Bureau for over one year before he was sworn in as Governor of the Punjab Province on October 29, 2001.

 

            For meritorious services, he is the recipient of the high award of Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Hilal-e-Imtiaz.

 

            He is married and has a daughter.
