Provincial Assembly of
the
November
30, 1988 to August 6, 1990
The
Assemblies were dissolved in May 1988 for holding fresh elections on non-party
basis. But, before the holding of the elections, General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, the then President of Pakistan died in a plane
crash on August 17, 1988, and in the light of decision of Supreme Court, the
elections were held on party basis on November 19, 1988.
The
tenure of the Assembly was five years but, after a period of only one year, 8
months and 7 days, the Governor dissolved the Assembly on August 6, 19901 following the dissolution of National Assembly
by Ghulam Ishaq Khan, the
then President, due to political crisis.
The
Assembly held its last session from June 9, 1990 to June 28, 1990. A total of 95
sittings over 11 sessions were held. During its life, the Assembly passed 17
Acts.
