Consequent upon the advice of the Chief Minister, Punjab to the Governor of the Punjab under clause (1) of Article 112 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab stands dissolved on 14 January 2023 at 2210 hours at the expiration of forty-eight hours after the Chief Minister has so advised.

General Discussion on Annual Budget for the Year 2020-2021

 

The General Discussion on the Annual Budget for the year 2020-21 was initiated by Mr. Muhammad Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Leader of Opposition while slamming the current Government for its miserable failure to provide relief to the people. He said that the country was confronting serious challenges including Corona and locust but Government was paying deaf ear and was constantly misleading nation. He questioned Rs.900 million spent on setting up isolation ward for corona virus infected patients at the Expo Center Lahore who were suffering under scorching sun at various hospitals. He said that the Government had destroyed the economy of Pakistan which was in doldrums and it could not protect itself under the cover of Corona. He further stated that people are fed up of tall claims of present Government which keeps on telling lies on each issue, for instant 40% of crops had been destroyed due to locust but the Government had failed to introduce any strategy about locust. Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal, Minister for Industries, Commerce & Investment and Makhdoom Syed Usman Mehmood participated in the discussion.
