RESOLUTION UNDER ARTICLE 144 OF THE CONSTITUTION

            A MINISTER to move that leave be granted to move a Resolution under Article 144 of the Constitution.

            A MINISTER to move the following resolution:

“Provincial Assembly of the Punjab empowers the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) to regulate, by law, the subject of Ruet-e-Hilal, under Article 144 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.”

EXTENSION OF ORDINANCES

(i)  MOTION UNDER RULE 127 OF THE RULES OF PROCEDURE OF PROVINCIAL ASSEMBLY OF THE PUNJAB 1997

            A MINISTER to move that leave be granted to move Resolutions under Article 128(2)(a) of the Constitution for extension of the following Ordinances:

1.    The Punjab Hotels and Restaurants (Amendment) Ordinance 2020 (XIX of 2020)

2.    The Punjab Tourist Guides (Amendment) Ordinance 2020 (XX of 2020)

3.    The Punjab Panah Gah Authority Ordinance 2021 (I of 2021)

4.    The King Edward Medical University, Lahore (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 (II of 2021)

(ii)  RESOLUTIONS UNDER ARTICLE 128(2)(a) OF THE CONSTITUTION

1.   RESOLUTION FOR EXTENSION OF THE PUNJAB HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 2020 (XIX OF 2020)

            A MINISTER to move that the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab extends the period of validity of the Punjab Hotels and Restaurants (Amendment) Ordinance 2020 (XIX of 2020), promulgated on 17 December 2020, for a further period of ninety days with effect from 17 March 2021.

2.   RESOLUTION FOR EXTENSION OF THE PUNJAB TOURIST GUIDES (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 2020 (XX OF 2020)

            A MINISTER to move that the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab extends the period of validity of the Punjab Tourist Guides (Amendment) Ordinance 2020 (XX of 2020), promulgated on 17 December 2020, for a further period of ninety days with effect from 17 March 2021.

 

3.   RESOLUTION FOR EXTENSION OF THE PUNJAB PANAH GAH AUTHORITY ORDINANCE 2021 (I OF 2021)

            A MINISTER to move that the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab extends the period of validity of the Punjab Panah Gah Authority Ordinance 2021 (I of 2021), promulgated on 13 January 2021, for a further period of ninety days with effect from 13 April 2021.

4.   RESOLUTION FOR EXTENSION OF THE KING EDWARD MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, LAHORE (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 2021 (II OF 2021)

            A MINISTER to move that the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab extends the period of validity of the King Edward Medical University, Lahore (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 (II of 2021), promulgated on 14 January 2021, for a further period of ninety days with effect from 14 April 2021.

The House observed one minute silence on the sad demise of brother of Mr. Tariq Masih Gill, MPA (NM-371) and offered Fateha for Mr Akhtar Mehmood and Mrs Shah Jahan, Ex-MPA.

Questions relating to Higher Education Department were asked and answered by Mr Yasir Humayun, the concerned Minister.

 

Call Attention Notice

 

The Notice moved by Mr Muhammad Tahir Pervaiz regarding rape of 9-years old girl Komal on 17 January 2021 within the premises of Police Station Raza Abad Faisalabad, was kept pending.

 

Adjournment Motion

 

Ms Hina Pervaiz Butt moved an Adjournment Motion that Punjab Libraries Foundation has become a centre of lavish spending and its officers were receiving all perks and privileges despite closure of projects and non-issuance of grant to the libraries since five years for their development and constructions, was kept pending as the concerned Minister was not present.

 

 

 

 

 

Resolution under Article 144 of the Constitution

 

On a motion moved by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, the House granted leave to move Resolution under Article 144 of the Constitution enabling Provincial Assembly of the Punjab to empower the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) to regulate, by law, the subject of Ruet-e-Hilal, under Article 144 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, which was passed by the House.

 

Extension of Ordinance

 

Motion under Rule 127 of the Rules of Procedure of Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997 to move resolutions under Article 128(2) (a) of the Constitution

 

On a motion moved by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, the House granted leave to separately move Resolutions under Article 128(2) (a) of the Constitution to extend the following Ordinances for a further period of ninety days from the date of their expiry, which were passed by the House:

 

1.    The Punjab Hotels and Restaurants (Amendment) Ordinance 2020 (XIX of 2020)

 

2.    The Punjab Tourist Guides (Amendment) Ordinance 2020 (XX of 2020)

 

3.    The Punjab Panah Gah Authority Ordinance 2021 (I of 2021)

 

4.    The King Edward Medical University, Lahore (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 (II of 2021)

General Discussion on Price Control was initiated by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs. Mr Sami Ullah Khan, Syed Hassan Murtaza, Mian Manazar Hussain Ranjha, Ms Raheela Naeem, Mr Muneeb-ul-Haq and Ms Uzma Kardar participated in the discussion.
