Ch. Muhammad Afzal Sahi, Speaker, assumed the chair and proceedings Commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran.

QUESTION HOUR:-

Questions relating to Agriculture and Agricultural marketing Departments were asked and answers were given respectively by Minister for Agriculture, Mr Muhammad Arshad Khan Lodhi and Minister for Agricultural Marketing Rana Qasim Noon.

ADJOURNMENT MOTIONS:-

Three Adjournment Motions were taken up. Adjournment Motion moved by Mr Sami Ullah Khan was about delay in the grant of grade 16 to the staff nurses of certain teaching hospitals in the province, as per announcement of the Government. The motion was replied by Dr Farzana Nazir, Parliamentary Secretary for Health that necessary notification had since been issued. As such the Motion was disposed of.

Syed Ihsan Ullah Waqas moved Adjournment Motion about killing of a young motorcyclist and injuring other by police men near More Muslim Town, Lahore. The motion was disposed of on the ground that the similar incident had already been disposed of through a Call Attention Notice moved on 28.9.2006.  

Adjournment Motion moved by Sheikh Ejaz Ahmad regarding slow progress on the construction work of Faisalabad Bus Stand was disposed of after the assurance given by Mr Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Local Government and Rural Development that construction work would be completed soon.

GOVERNMENT BUSINESS:-

Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affair laid The University of Education, Lahore (Amendment Ordinance 2006) (Ordinance No. XII of 2006). The Ordinance was referred to the Standing Committee for Education for report by 31 October, 2006.

At this stage, the sitting was suspended for five minutes for lack of quorum and after that the House was adjourned till 10.00 am on Monday, 2 October, 2006.
