Dissolution

Through an amendment in the "Proclamation of Emergency Order, 1999" by the "Proclamation of Emergency (Amendment) Order, 2001 (Order 2 of 2001)", issued on 20 June 2001, the National Assembly, the Senate and the Provincial Assemblies of Pakistan, which had earlier been suspended, have been dissolved; and the President of Pakistan, the Speakers and the Deputy Speakers of the National Assembly and the Provincial Assemblies have ceased to hold office with immediate effect.     The Chairman and the Deputy Chairman of the Senate had already ceased to hold office.
