Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation by Qari Majid followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH) by Mian Marghoob Ahmad Hamdani.

Panel of Chairmen:-

The Secretary Assembly announced the Panel of Chairmen for the session, as envisaged in Rule 13 of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab 1997. The names of the Panel, in order of precedence, are as under: −

 1.        Dr. Asad Ashraf, MPA (PP-138)

 2.        Mian Yawar Zaman, MPA (PP-191) 

 3.        Sardar Muhammad Amanullah Khan Dreshak, (PP-249)

4.                Syeda Bushra Nawaz Gardezi, MPA (W-352)

At this stage the Opposition amidst the token boycott of proceedings for showing solidarity with traders and religious parties on the issue of the blasphemy law.

Question Hour: −

Questions relating to Transport and Tourism Departments were asked and Mr.   Muhammad Khurram Gulfam, Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Rana Muhammad Arshad, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism answered the questions.

Laying of Reports:-

Ch. Ghulam Nabi presented before the House the report of Standing Committee on Transport in respect of “The Provincial motor vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2010 (Bill No. 23 of 2010)”.

Adjournment Motions:-

Four Adjournment Motions were taken up. Three Motions were moved by Ms.‏ Nighat Nasir Sheikh, one was about failure in providing relief to the masses by the LDA authorities through “One Window Sale” was disposed of, other motion regarding stoppage of Ravi National Park project due to lack of funds, and motion regarding close of work on more than three hundred dilapidated roads in Lahore were kept pending. The motion moved by Mian Tariq Mehmood regarding shifting of Chattel Market, Kharian, was kept pending till Wednesday 5^th January 2010.

The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs.

At this stage, the quorum was pointed out and the House was then adjourned till 3:00 pm on Monday, January, 3, 2011.
