Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).
Fateha:-
The House offered fateha on the sad demise of the Mr. Hakim Ali Zardari, Ex Federal Minister father of Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan and mothers Ms. Anjum Safdar, MPA and Mr. Raja Hanif Abbasi, MNA.
Privilege Motions:-
Six Privilege Motions were taken up. The motions of Ch. Aamir Sultan Cheema for not laying Annual Report of “The Punjab Public Service Commission” for the year 2010 before the House was kept pended till 14-6-2011, motion of Seemal Kamran regarding postponement of presentation of Annual Report of Bait-Ul-Mal for the year 2010 before the House, motion of Rai Muhammad Shahjahan Khan regarding misbehavior of officers of Food Department with the member concerned including Deputy Director Food Faisalabad, Mr Najam Ahmad Shah Director Food Punjab and Mr Irfan Illahi Secretary Food Punjab, as well as misbehavior of Dr Khalid Fakhar MS Tehsil Headquarter Hospital Jaranwala, motion of Mrs. Samina Khawar Hayat regarding non presentation of Annual report of “The Punjab office of the Ombudsman” for the year 2010 before the House, motion of Hafiz Muhammad Qamar Hayat Kathiya regarding misbehavior of Ch. Asghar, DSP, Shorkot were disposed of and last motion of Malik Adil Hussain Utra regarding misbehavior of Mr. Ijaz Jaskani, AFC was referred to the Privilege Committee.
The Motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs.
GOVERNMENT BUSINESS
General Discussion on Annual Budget for the year 2011-2012.
After suspending two days, first day of general discussion on Annual Budget for the year 2011-2012 took place. Raja Riaz Ahmed, Leader of Opposition in his opening speech stated that an excessive amount of Rs 60 million was spent on the Chief Minister’s Secretariat and Rejected the Yellow Cab schemes for graduates. He said that government is turning educated people into drivers, rather than generating employment opportunities for them. Following members also participated in the discussion: Dr. Asad Muazzam, Mrs. Samina Khawar Hayat, Mr. Zafar Zulqurnain Sahi, Mr. Khalil Tahir Sindhu, Dr. Ghazala Raza Rana and Dr. Ashraf Chohan.
The House was then adjourned till 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 14, 2011.
