Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, acting Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).
Privilege Motions:-
Three Privilege Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Lt. Col (R) Muhammad Shabbir Awan regarding misbehavior of Mr Agha Nadeem Additional Secretary Industries and Mr. Ismail Iqbal, Deputy Chief Technical, with the member concerned, the second Motion moved by Mr. Shahjahan Ahmad Bhatti regarding misbehavior of Dr. Iqbal, ASP with the member concerned were kept pending till 13-6-2012 and the last motion of Mr. Muhammad Ejaz Shafi regarding misbehavior of Prof Faisal Masood Principal Services Institute of Medical Sciences with the member concern was referred to the Privilege committee.
The Motions were answered by Rana Sanaullah Khan, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs.
GOVERNMENT BUSINESS:-
“COMMENCEMENT OF GENERAL DISCUSSION ON ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE YEAR 2012-13”:-
On the first day of general discussion on Annual Budget for the year 2012-13 took. Raja Riaz Ahmed, Leader of Opposition in his opening speech stated that provincial government had economically killed poor growers through its policies knowing that the rural community was not its vote bank. Criticizing the laptop scheme, he said that poor students are studying in schools without roofs, furniture and rooms and thousands of laptop had been doled out to those students who can afford the gadgets on their own. About the energy crisis, he said that government had failed to generate even a single megawatt power during the last four years. He stated that there is no money allocated for new provinces as treasury passed two resolutions for the of two provinces. Following members also participated in the Budget discussion: Raja Shaukat Aziz Bhatti, Mr. Zafar Zulqurnain Sahi, Mr Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, Shaikh Allaud Din, Dr. Muhammad Akhtar Malik, Mrs. Qamar Aamir Ch, Mr. Sher Ali Khan, Sardar Malik Jehanzeb Warn, Malik Nosher Khan Langerial, Mian Tariq Mehmood, Mian Muhammad Kazim Ali Pirzada, Ch. Ehsan-ul-Haq Ahsan Nolatia, Ms. Shumaila Rana, Mrs. Robina Shaheen Wattoo, Ch. Muhammad Awais Aslam Madhana, Rai Muhammad Shahjahan Khan, Rana Munawar Hussain alias Rana Munawar Ghous Khan, Rana Muhammad Arshad, Major (R) Abdul Rehman Rana, Mrs. Nargis Faiz Malik, Ms. Asifa Farooqi, Mrs. Kishwar Qayyum and Mrs Najmi Saleem.
The House was then adjourned till 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 13, 2012.
