Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).

Question Hour: −  

Questions relating to Health Department were asked and Khawaja Imran Nazeer, Parliamentary Secretary for Health answered the questions.

Adjournment Motions:-

Eight Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Ms. Shunila Ruth regarding water pollution of rivers and canals because chemicals mixed wasted water without treating is being thrown into rivers by factories, and laboratory tests prove that such water is harmful for agricultural land and its produce which causes diseases, two motions moved by Sheikh Alla-ud-Din one regarding death of a woman namely Ms Razia, who was taken by her family members to Rural Health Center, Talamba, THQ Mian Channu and Nishtar Hospital Multan, died due to non availability of Anti Rabies Vaccine, the other regarding rapid increase of AIDS patients in Pakistan and it is demand of time to impart safe sex education to general public through press and electronic media, the motion moved by Sardar Shahab-ud-Din Khan regarding termination of 29 Computer Operators working in District Headquarter Hospital, Tehsil Headquarter Hospital, Rural Health Center and B.H. Unit District Layyah and that they have not been reinstated as ordered by High Court Multan Bench and the Motion moved by Ms.‏ Nighat Sheikh regarding import of cotton at lower rates which is affecting local cotton growers who are facing economic crises and ginners are becoming bankrupt, such policy is discouraging farmers to grow cotton, resultantly textile industry will be affected. These motions were disposed of. The motion moved by Dr. Syed Waseem Akhtar regarding fixation of sugarcane price at Rs.230/- instead of Rs.170/- per ton and that sugar cane crushing should be allowed to those sugar mill owners who have paid previous dues of the farmers, two motion moved by Sheikh Alla-ud-Din one regarding incompletion of project due to negligence of TMA and Public Health Department to provide clean potable water through 17 water tanks in the city of Gujrat, out of which only 2 water tanks have been completed and the other regarding deteriorating condition of Sheikh Zayed Hospital after its transfer to Punjab Government due to cut in its annual budget and suspension of Board of Governors, consequently educational institutions attached with the hospital are also becoming in effective. These motions were kept pending till next week.

The Motions were answered by Ch. Nazar Hussain, Parliamentary Secretary for Law & Parliamentary Affairs.

Private Members Day:-

Resolutions:-

1.         The Resolution moved by Ms.‏ Nighat Sheikh demanded the Federal Government to bring necessary amendments in the existing laws to overcome and curb increasing number of cyber crimes against women and children was unanimously passed by the House.

یہ  ایوان  وفاقی حکومت سے سفارش کرتا ہے کہ خواتین اور بچیوں کے خلاف بڑھتے ہوئے سائبر کرائمز پر قابو پانے کے لئے پہلے سے موجود قانون میں مناسب ترامیم کی جائیں۔

2.         Through a Resolution Ms. Hina Pervaiz Butt demanded to initiate appropriate legislation to put a check on domestic violence and protecting the rights of house employees. The Resolution was passed by the House.

اس ایوان کی رائے ہے کہ گھریلو ملازمین پر تشدد کی روک تھام اور اُن کے حقوق کے تحفظ کے لئے فوری طور پر قانون سازی کی جائے۔

3.         The Resolution moved by Rai Muhamamd Usman Khan Kharal for limiting the tenure of taking retirement by Government employees from 25 years to 20 years was disposed of.

4.         Ch. Aamir Sultan Cheema withdrew his resolution regarding imposition of strict ban on fake and unregistered medicines in the Province and stringent punishments for those who are involved in this heinous crime.

اس ایوان کی رائے ہے کہ صوبہ بھر میں جعلی اور غیررجسٹرڈ ادویات پر پابندی لگائی جائے اور ایسے کاروبار میں ملوث افراد کے خلاف سخت سے سخت سزا مقرر کی جائے۔

5.         The Resolution moved by Mrs.‏ Saadia Sohail Rana urging the Provincial Government to ensure provision of cost free graves in the graveyards throughout the province was kept pending.

اس ایوان کی رائے ہے کہ صوبہ بھر کے قبرستانوں میں تدفین کے لئے مفت قبر کی فراہمی یقینی بنائی جائے۔

At this stage, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Leader of the House expressed his views on various National and Provincial issues. He said that Pakistan is facing serious challenges like terrorism, extremism and shortage of electricity and that Punjab as well as Federal Governments are taking necessary steps and measures to face and solve these challenges boldly.

The House was then adjourned till 10:00 a.m on Wednesday, 12^th February, 2014.
