Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, Acting Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool ﷺ.
Adjournment Motions
Two Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Adjournment Motion moved by Ms. Shunila Ruth regarding embezzlement of funds of millions of rupees in Lahore Transport Company and the second Motion moved by Mian Mehmood ur Rashid regarding shortage as well as non-availability of MRI and C.T Scan machines in public hospitals in Lahore, were kept pending till next week.
Government Business Discussion and Voting on Demands for Grants 2017-2018
The Demand for Grant kept pending on 9 June, 2017 in respect of Education was taken up and discussion on cut motion by the Opposition continued. The cut motion was rejected by the House and the Demand for Grant for Education was passed with the majority of the votes. Dr. Aisha Ghaus Pasha, Minister for Finance then moved Demand for Grant in respect of Health Services on which Opposition moved the cut motion which was rejected by the House and the Demand for Grant for Health Services was passed by the House with the majority of votes. The remaining Demands for Grants were passed by the House under Rule 144 (4) of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997.
The House was then adjourned at 02:38 p.m. to meet on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
