In exercise of the powers conferred under clause (1) of Article 112 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Makhdum Syed Ahmad Mahmud, Governor of the Punjab, on the advice of the Chief Minister Punjab, dissolved the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab on 20 March 2013.

Ch Awais Qasim Khan son of Ch Ghulam Ahmad Khan of Rupochak was born on August 19, 1969 at Sialkot. An agriculturist, who has been elected as Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in general elections 2008. He has visited UK, Saudi Arabia and UAE. His father served as Member of Punjab Assembly during 1985-88, 1990-93, 1993-96 and 1997-99; his uncle, Ch Muhammad Sarwar Khan of Rupochak remained a Member of Punjab Legislative Assembly during 1951-55; a Member of Provincial Assembly of West Pakistan during 1965-69 and a Member of National Assembly for five consecutive terms during 1985-99.
