Personal Career & Interests

Miss Shaheen Atiq-ur-Rehman daughter of General Atiq-ur-Rehman (late), grand-daughter of Sir Shafat Ahmed Khan and great granddaughter of Justice Shahdin was born in April 1948 at Sialkot. She obtained the degree of M.A (Administrative Sciences) in 1971 and that of LL.B. in 1975 from University of the Punjab, Lahore. She was awarded Communes Medal in 1998, by UNESCO in Paris for getting international recognition for her work in literacy; Presidential Award Aziza-e-Fazilat by the Government of Pakistan. To her credit she has various publications as well. She has served as Executive Member, ASPBAE, during 2002; Chairperson, PSSB during 1987-1993, Chairperson Women Section 7th Fifth Year Plan, Government of Pakistan and Chairperson, Punjab Red Crescent during 1994. Presently she is serving as a member of INRULED, Beijing, China. She has extensively traveled abroad as representative of Pakistan Government; and has visited nearly 32 countries including USA, UK, Belgium, Japan, China, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, France, Indonesia, Mangolia etc. She served as Lady Councillor, L.M.C. during 1984. She also remained Member, Provincial Council during 1985; Member, Punjab Assembly during 1985-88; and also functioned as Minister for Social Welfare & Women’s Development during 1985-87. She has returned to Punjab Assembly for the second term in General Elections 2002 against one of the seats reserved for women.
