Speaker Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an followed by its Urdu translation by Qari Noor Muhammad. Sarwar Hussain Naqshbandi presented Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).
Questions Hour: −
Questions relating to School Education and Higher Education Department were asked and Minister for School Education and Higher Education, Mian Mujtuba Shuja-ur-Rehman answered the questions.
Resolution:-
The House allowed Syed Muhammad Rafi-ul-Din Bukhari to move the following resolution, after suspending rule 115 under Rule 234 of the Rules of the Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997 regarding sad demise of of Pir Naseeruddin Naseer of Golra Sharif. The resolution was later unanimously passed by the House.
Condolence:-
The House offered Fateha on the death of Pir Naseeruddin Naseer of Golra Sharif.
Call Attention Notice:-
One call attention notice was taken up. The call attention notice moved by Rana Tanveer Ahmad Nasir regarding killing of her enemy by a women at Additional Sessions Judge court, Sheikupura was disposed of and was answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan.
Leave of Absence:-
Secretary, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, Mr. Maqsood Ahmad Malik read out the leave applications to the Assembly of the following members and Mr. Speaker granted the leave.

Privilege Motions:-
Four Privilege motions were taken up. The motion moved by Sheikh Ala ud Din regarding newspaper report about the concerned member reprimanded by Mr. Speaker, was disposed of. The motion moved by Mrs. Deeba Mirza regarding misconduct of EDO Education, District Nankanashaib, Sheikh Naeem, was pended till Wednesday. The motion moved by Mrs. Samina Khawar Hayat regarding misbehavior of SP traffic, Lahore, Sardar Asif, was pended till next week. The motion moved by Malik Muhammad Abbas Raan regarding misbehavior of ASI, Special Branch, Islam, was pended till two days.
The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan.
Adjournment Motions:-
Three Adjournment motions were taken up. The motion moved by Sheikh Ala ud Din regarding selling of new constructed Minister Block near Punjab Civil Secretariat, was pended till tomorrow. The motion moved by Mr. Ahmed Khan Balouch regarding recruitment of Educators, was pended till tomorrow. The motion moved by Mrs. Deeba Mirza regarding issuing of illegal allotment letters by the LDA to different people of E-1, Johar Town, was pended till Thursday.
The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Rana Sanaullah Khan.
Government Business:-
Continuation of general discussion on Agriculture with special reference to the availability of fertilizers in the province:-
Minister for Agriculture, Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh continued his speech on agriculture, and told the House that 48 percent of the total manpower in Punjab is employed in agriculture. He stated that the production of sunflower crop increased during the current year. He further stated that the government has introduced the Green Tractor Scheme and launched crack down on the manufactures and retailers selling fake agri medicines and pesticides. He said the Chief Minister has constituted a task force for controlling manufacturing and purchase of fake pesticides. He said that the Province is facing 38 percent water shortage, which is affecting the crops. Members from Treasury and Opposition benches including Major (R) Abdul Rehman Rana, Mr. Muhammad Yar Hiraj, Dr. Muhammad Afzal, Mian Muhammad Rafique, Mian Muhammad Shafiq Arain, Mr. Muhammad Ejaz Shafi, Mr. Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari, Rai Muhammad Shah Jahan Khan, Mrs. Amna Ulfat, Mr. Muhammad Saeed Mughal, Mr. Karam Ellahi Bandial, Malik Adil Hussain Utra, Mr. Javed Hassan Gujjar, Mrs. Nighat Nasir Sheikh and Syed Hassan Murtaza also participated in the general discussion and gave important suggestions for the improvement of agriculture sector.
Then, the House was adjourned till 10:00am, Tuesday, 17th February, 2009.
