Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation by Qari Khushi Muhammad followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH) by Afzal Noshahi.

Fateha:-

The House offered fateha on the sad demise of Ex-MNA, Mr. Khalid Ghurki and Ex-MPA, Syed Peer Iqbal Shah.

Members across the political divide, mainly from the minorities paid homage to the assassinated Federal Minister for Minorities, Mr Shahbaz Bhatti. Saying he worked for the rights of the oppressed and was portraying soft image of Pakistan in the world community. Opening debate on the issue Mr. Kamran Michael, Minister for Minorities Affairs said that Mr Shahbaz Bhatti was representing a soft image of the country and tragedy was the matter of concern not only for the minorities but for the entire nation. He said his mission would not go waste and the minorities would work for the solidarity of the country. He said that it was a pity that Mr, Shahbaz Bhatti was not given bullet-proof vehicle and proper security. Following members also expressed their views: Mr. Khalil Tahir Sindhu, Mrs, Najmi Saleem, Mr. Joel Amir Sahutra, Mr. Pervez Rafique, Engineer Shahzad Elahi, Mrs.‏ Neelam Jabbar Chaudhary and Khawaja Muhammad Islam.

The House was then adjourned till 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 15th 2011 to express solidarity with the journalists as a stray bullet injured a cameraman of a private TV channel within the Assembly premises.
