Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).
Adjournment Motions
Seven Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Ms. Faiza Ahmad Malik regarding non-regularization of contract employees of Paramedical Staff of Health Department in District Muzaffargarh, the second Motion moved by Ch Ashraf Ali Ansari regarding shortage of medical facilities for the heart patients in various public hospitals of Lahore, the third Motion moved by Mr Amjad Ali Javaid regarding illegal appointments of Deans in all the Departments of GC University, Faisalabad in contravention of merit, the fourth Motion moved by Ms. Shunila Ruth regarding increase in the prices of various medicines by the pharmaceuticals companies in Lahore, the fifth Motion moved by Mr. Ahmad Shah Khagga regarding supply of lethal medicines worth billions of rupees in the public hospitals of the Punjab in connivance with the Government employees, the sixth Motion moved by Mian Tariq Mehmood regarding demolition of official residences in Wahdat Colony, Lahore to construct new eight floor flats and the last Motion moved by Ms. Khadija Umar regarding purchase of ventilators for ICU in Mayo Hospital, Lahore in violation of rules in connivance with MS Mayo Hospital and Secretary Health resulting in corruption of lacs of rupees, were kept pending till next week.
Government Business
Discussion and Voting on Demands for Grants for the Year 2016-17:-
The Demand for Grant kept pending on 23 June, 2016 in respect of Health Services was taken up and discussion on cut motion by the opposition continued. The cut motion was rejected by the House and the Demand for Grant for Health Services was passed with the majority of the votes.
The Minister for Finance moved Demand for Grant in respect of Education on which Opposition moved the cut motion which was rejected by the House. Hence, the Demand for Grant for Education was passed by the House with the majority of votes.
The remaining Demands for Grants were passed by the House under Rule 144 (4) of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997.
The House was then adjourned to meet on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
