SUMMARY OF THE PROCEEDINGS

 Sardar Shaukat Hussain Mazari, Deputy Speaker, assumed the chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran.

 QUESTION HOUR:-

Questions relating to the Industries and Irrigation & Power Departments were asked and answers were given respectively by Mr. Muhammad Ajmal Cheema Minister for Industries and Ch. Amir Sultan Cheema Minister for Irrigation & Power.

 ADJOURNMENT MOTIONS:-

Total three Adjournment Motions were taken up. Out of which, Adjournment Motion moved by Sheikh Ijaz Ahmad regarding giving extension to the retired professors etc of the universities thus resulting in unemployment among fresh post graduates was kept pending.

While another Adjournment Motion moved by Sheikh Ijaz Ahmad was about violence committed by the administration of Crescent Sugar Mills with their employees protesting for increase their salaries. The motion was answered by Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon Minister for Labour and Human Resources and was disposed of.

Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan moved an adjournment motion which was about changing the original drawings of Lahore Ring road which would create problems for families of Gulshan-e-Ravi and benefit land mafia. The motion was replied by Ch. Zaheer-ud-Din Khan Minister for Communications and Works and was disposed of.

PRIVATE MEMBERS DAY:-

“The University of Arid Agriculture Rawalpindi (Amendment) Bill 2004 (Bill NO. 12 of 2004) moved by Mr. Tanveer Ashraf Kaira was kept pending.

“The Provincial Assembly of the Punjab Privileges (Amendment) Bill 2006 (Bill No. 29 of 2006) moved by Miss Misbah Kokab was disposed of as the mover did not press it.

RESOLUTIONS:-

Resolution pending from 21 November 2006

(i) Resolution moved by Mr. Arshad Mehmood Baggu regarding appointment of all members of Provincial Assembly as Justice of Peace according to section 22 of the Criminal Procedure Code 1898 was disposed of after the assurance by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs that government would bring a joint resolution in this regard.

PRESENT RESOLUTIONS:-

(ii)               Rana Sana Ullah Khan moved a resolution that Punjab Government Employees should be officially allowed medical facilities in the hospitals under federal control like Sheikh Zayed hospital and for that reason amendments should be brought in the relevant rules and regulations. The resolution was opposed b Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Minister for Health and was kept pending.

(iii)             Mr. Arshad Mehmood Baggu moved a resolution that arms licenses should be issued on the recommendations of provincial parliament arians to curtail rising crime graph in the province. The resolution was withdrawn by the mover on the assurance given by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs that government and oppsition would table a joint resolution in this regard.

(iv)              Resolution of Malik Nazar Farid Khokhar to reduce retirement age limit from 60 to 55 to resolve the problem of unemployment in the province was withdrawn by the mover.

(v)                Sheikh Alluddin moved a resolution urging that Zakat tax on Real Estate and Agriculture land by the federal government as reported by the Press. The motion was kept pending.

(vi)              Resolution of Mr. Tanvir Ashraf Kaira that export duty should immediately be withdrawn on the kits used for the tests of Hepatitis and HIV was disposed of due to the absence of mover.  

  The House was then adjourned till 10.00 am on Wednesday, 7 March 2007.
