SUMMARY OF THE PROCEEDINGS

dated: Friday, 09 March 2007

 

Ch Muhammad Afzal Sahi, Speaker, assumed the chair and proceedings commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran.

 

Question Hour:-

Questions relating to Local Government and Rural Development Department were asked and answers were given by Mr Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs.

 

Adjournment Motions:-

Four Adjournment Motions were taken up. Out of which Adjournment Motion moved by Sheikh Ijaz Ahmad regarding newspaper report of charging of Rs.250/- from the students in schools against Government instructions. The motion was disposed of after it was replied by Chaudhry Nazar Hussain Gondal, Parliamentary Secretary for Education. The Adjournment Motion moved by Syed Ihsan Ullahy Waqas concerning the high prices of the commodities of every day use. The motion was disposed of as it was replied by Mr Muhammad Ajmal Cheema, Minister for Industries. The Adjournment Motion moved by Sheikh Alla-ud-Din regarding vulgarity in the stage dramas was pended till Monday. The Adjournment Motion moved by Mr Arshad Mehmood Baggu regarding closing down of the medical college at Sialkot and merging students of this medical college with services institute of medical sciences. The motion was pended till Friday.

 

Government Business:-

 

The Reports of Punjab Bait-ul-Maal for the years 2003 and 2004 were discussed in the House. Malik Jalal Din Dhakoo occupied the chair, Mr Muhammad Waris Kalu, Parliamentary Secretary for Colonies, Mrs Parveen Masood Bhatti, Dr Muhammad Javed Siddiqui, Mrs Abida Javed, Ms Saghira Islam, Syed Ihsan Ullah Waqas and Mrs Shazia Chand took part in the discussion. Mr Muhammad Ejaz Shafi, Minister for Bait-ul-Maal concluded the discussion.

 

The House was then adjourned till 3:00 pm on Monday, 12 March 2007.
