Under Rule 13(1) of Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997, Mr. Muhammad Khan Bhatti, Secretary Assembly announced the Panel of Chairmen nominated by Mr. Speaker in the following order:-

 

1.         Mr. Muhammad Abdullah Warraich (PP-29)
2.         Mian Shafi Muhammad (PP-258)
3.         Ms. Aisha Nawaz (W-322)
4.         Ms. Zakia Khan (W-331)

 

Oath

 

Mian Jaleel Ahmed, Member-elect from (Sheikhupura-V) (PP-139),
Sardar Muhammad Awais Dareshak (PP-296),
Syeda Uzma Qadri (W-354) and Ms Nafisa Amin (W-359) made an oath and signed the Roll of Members. The Speaker administered the oath.

 

Fateha

 

The House offered Fateha on the sad demise of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz Sharif wife of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan, father of Abdul Haye Dasti, MPA and Mr. Ghulam Abbas Khaki (to be Member elect PP-222 Multan XII).

 

Question Hour

 

Questions relating to Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education, Primary & Secondary Healthcare, Industries, Commerce & Investment and Local Government & Community Development Departments were asked and Dr Yasmin Rashid, Minister for Primary & Secondary Healthcare, Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education and Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal, Minister for Industries, Commerce & Investment answered the questions. Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary affairs answered the question relating to Local Government & Community Development, which was kept pending.

 

Call Attention Notices

 

Two Call Attention Notices were taken up. The Notice moved by Mr. Muhammad Waris Shad regarding dacoity of cattle and other valuables worth Rs. 85,0000/- from the form house of Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Khan s/o Zulfiqar Hussain Khan at District Sargodha and the second Notice moved by Mr. Zaheer Iqbal regarding murder of Mr. Majid s/o Mr. Rafique on resistance during dacoity within the premises of Civil Lines Police Station Bahawalpur, were disposed of.

 

The Notices were replied by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary affairs.

 

Adjournment Motions

 

Two Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Mr. Naseer Ahmad regarding closure of kilns from 20th October to 31 December 2018 to control smog instead of using modern technology and issuance of letter in this regard by Punjab Environment Protection Department to kiln owners resulting in restlessness among workers and owners and the second Motion moved by Choudhary Ashraf Ali that Private Health and Clinical Laboratories have become centre of earning profit and failure of Health Care Commission to fulfill its responsibility to practically control malpractices of these laboratories, diagnosing wrong diseases resulting in ineffective treatment of patients, were kept pending as the concerned Ministers were not present.

General Discussion

 

Discussion on Law and Order

 

Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary affairs initiated discussion on Law and Order. He apprised that the law and order remained under controlled during political and religious demonstrations in previous days. He informed the House that the Police Reforms Commission has started to offer better policing services to the people of Punjab. He further added that the Safe City Project would be replicated in other cities, beginning with the divisional headquarters.

 

Mr. Muhammad Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Leader of Opposition and Ch Zaheer Ud Din, Minister for Public Prosecution participated in the discussion.

 

The House was then adjourned sine die at 4:20 p.m.
