Questions relating to Local Government and Community Development Department were asked and Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs replied to the questions having additional charge of the said Department.
Laying of Report
Ms. Asia Amjad presented before the House the report of Standing Committee on Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education in respect of “The Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center Bill 2019 (Bill No. 4 of 2019)”.
Extension in Time Limit for Laying the Reports
On a Motion moved by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, the House granted extension for two months from 14 March 2019 to the Special Committee No. 3 for laying its report on “Adjournment Motion No. 248/2019 moved by Mr. Naseer Ahmad, MPA (PP-163)”.
On a Motion moved by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, the House granted extension for two months from 23 February 2019 to the Special Committee No.2 for laying its report on “To consider the issue of the cost of ongoing schemes of 2007-08 escalated manifold due to unnecessary and criminal delay by the previous Government”.
On a Motion moved by Raja Yawar Kamal Khan, the House granted extension for two months from 9 March 2019 to the Special Committee No.1 for laying its report on “Adjournment Motion No.190 of 2018”.
Suspension of Rules
On a motion moved by Ms. Hina Pervaiz Butt in terms of Rule 234 of Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997, the House granted leave to suspend Rule 115 and other relevant Rules of the Rules ibid, for taking up the following Resolution which was unanimously passed by the House.
Ms. Hina Pervaiz Butt moved a Resolution paying tribute to women struggling for their rights locally and internationally on International Women’s Day. The resolution stated that no society can progress without educating and empowering women. Pakistani women are playing significant role for the prosperity of the country, however, they should be made more empowered. The resolution urged the higher authorities to take concrete steps for provision of valid status and rights to women in the country. All efforts should be made for gender parity and to attain these objectives a parliamentary group of Punjab Assembly Members should be constituted.
