Question Hour

Questions relating to Higher Education Department were asked and answered by Mr. Muhammad Sabtain Raza, Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education.

Call Attention Notice         

The Call Attention Notice moved by Ms. Shazia Abid regarding death of six people in exchange of firing between two groups at Tehsil Rojhan, District Rajanpur, was disposed of after replied by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs.

Privilege Motions

Two Privilege Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Mr. Rais Nabeel Ahmad regarding misbehavior of Ch. Siddique, Chief Engineer Development, WAPDA with the member concerned and the second Motion moved by Mr. Ahmad Shah Khagga regarding misbehavior of Mr. Israr Khan, District Food Officer, Pakpattan with the member concerned, were referred to the Committee on Privileges with the direction to submit its reports within two months.

Adjournment Motions

Two Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Ms. Shazia Abid that in violation of Government Policy two applicants were called for interview for the post of Vice-Chancellor, Lahore College University for Women, whose past was not clear, one candidate was facing corruption charges at NAB and the other was dismissed from the said post on the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan and the second Motion moved by Ms. Kanwal Pervaiz Ch. that sale of commodities on installments now-a-days is a flourishing business in Pakistan especially in Punjab. However, no government department is assigned task to keep a check on the performance of these institutions and they do not fall within the ambit of any law, hence, traders dealing in this business victimize general public and compel them to pay exorbitant interest rates than approved by State Bank of Pakistan, were kept pending as the concerned Ministers were not present.

Laying of Reports

Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs laid the following reports before the House, which were referred to the Public Accounts Committee-II with the direction to examine and submit its reports within one year.

Suspension of Rules

On a motion moved by Mr. Muhammad Moavia in terms of Rule 234 of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab 1997, the House granted leave to suspend Rule 115 and other relevant Rules of the Rules ibid, for taking up the following Resolution which was unanimously passed by the House.

Resolution

Mr. Muhammad Moavia moved a Resolution urging the Federal Government to observe the sanctity of forthcoming Ramdhan and TV channels should invite scholars for Ramdhan Transmission.

Zero Hour

Ms. Uzma Kardar moved a motion regarding increase in the fee of MBBS and BDS students for the session 2018-19 by the Fatima Memorial Hospital College of Medicine and Dentistry and final year students have been directed to pay difference in the tuition fee amounting to Rs.238,824 by 15 May 2019 which is not fair, was kept pending as the concerned Minister was not present.

The House was then adjourned at 05:56 p.m. to meet on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 09:00 a.m.
